Eddie Bo Or Varetta Dillard Rnb Wants
it's just come out on a new Chess 45 btw

Eddie Bo Or Varetta Dillard Rnb Wants
the Eddie Bo was unreleased, so that makes it pretty rare!
-
James Brown - No Funk Here
the other version of Lost Someone (King 6020) is a live take King 5573 is on one of the Dave Godin deep soul CDs. great track!
-
Little Emmett Sutton - Federal - Still Searching
sorry, no idea, imagine the online shops will have it at some point (Juno, Jazzman, etc) here's the tracklisting and liner notes: https://www.vampisoul.com/detail_cd.asp?referencia=122

Bobby Marchan
i really like it too - seems to be more popular in Europe supposedly Johnny Vincent thought he'd signed a female artist to Ace, and the other musicians didn't say anything to spoil the joke
-
Little Emmett Sutton - Federal - Still Searching
great 45! probably not of any use, but just in case you don't mind reissues, it's coming out on a Vampisoul 10x45 boxset of King/Federal stuff (also on CD) compiled by Mr Finewine.

Rare Rnb / Popcorn Lulu Godfrey " Moanin' " Finch 2002
Moanin' was a jazz instrumental written by Bobby Timmons (who also wrote Dat Dere) whilst in Art Blakey's band - it later had lyrics added, just like Work Song, Watermelon Man, Comin' Home Baby, etc the Lulu Godrey is a great version, bought mine about 4 or 5 years ago and never seen one since. NY label, not the same Finch label as the Albert Washington 'Ramble' etc which is from Ohio

Lenny Johnson
booted on demo (one of the recent large batch of R&B/blues boots), not booted on issue AFAIK.

Recomended Uk 45
it is yes, had several designs, blue with silver writing or red with black writing are the most common colours. there's also an unrelated Jamaican 'R&B' label, white with a nice red and black design, which was one of Chris Blackwell's first labels, and i think there's another unrelated US 'R&B' label too

Value Requests: Please Help Us All And Mention Records In Header
of course not, but for one or two items it makes sense. alternatively for lists one could put something a bit more descriptive than 'some records for sale' - e.g. could mention Northern, Modern, R&B, UK, 45s or LPs etc good point about not needing 'sales' or 'wanted' too
-
Value Requests: Please Help Us All And Mention Records In Header
same goes for sales and wants posts, rather annoying and i bet a lot get missed because of it
-
Rnb Dancer Ruth Durand " I'm Wise " Post 2012 Demo
great version, i think i like it as much as the Eddie Bo original on Apollo
-
Otis Rush
there are repros of both ("Keep On..." and "I'm Satisfied" paired with the original a-sides), part of the same huge batch that's around at the moment. there's also an older reissue on Jewel with Double Trouble paired with I'm Satisfied, oddly
-
Otis Rush
yes - "I'm Satisfied" in 1960 on Chess, b-side to "So Many Roads" (Cobra "Keep On Loving Me" version is '58)

Titus Turner Hungry Man

$933 For The Soultors On Timmion?
and 3 bidders bid $600 or more... bizarre
-
4 Rnb Tunes For Sale. Norma Rudd Sureshot, Titus Turner Glover
not really an answer song, just a cover by a female artist. great record though! goes down well with non-scene crowds

London Soul Night?
blimey, Salmon & Compass is going back a bit, the vinylvulture (site is now verygoodplus.co.uk) night was at Filthy McNasty's for a few years, is now at Smersh on Ravey St, (except it's now called Three Blind Mice), 2nd Wed of the month. 1st Wednesday of the month is DJ Wheeliebag's night at the Spread Eagle in Camden, which is a good after work night out

Uk Tamla Motown Demo
re: rockingeric - his packaging is rubbish too - bought a (genuinely very rare!) record from him for about 200 quid and it was just packaged in some folded card together with a couple of worthless pop 45s (pretty pointless as extra packaging).

Steve Gibson - Big Game Hunter - Rca
oh, just had a listen and it is the same...
-
Steve Gibson - Big Game Hunter - Rca
is that the same song? this is from '53!

100 Club Crisis
depends on the DJ of course, but the R&B played currently at mod/R&B events normally ranges from about '56/57 to '64, with a few tracks from later and a few tracks from earlier. (with 60s soul/latin/ska/reggae etc as well of course depending on the night). the swirly psychedelic thing is pretty separate - people on here talking about 'mod' events would most likely to be referring to the former i would have thought? what's the point of getting a deep funk DJ or Gaz Mayall - i thought it was meant to be a soul night? or was that a joke? i don't understand... X-Ray soul is at The Star of Bethnal Green (which used to be The Pleasure Unit club a few years back), not been to the night, but there's a playlist MP3 sampler on their site: https://www.xraysoulclub.com/ (on the left)

Very Strange Blend Of Funk, Soul And Country
a better example of country/funk crossover:
-
Bunker Hill - You Cant Make Me Doubt My Baby
the Jukebox Jam reissue (legit) has the label as 'Wyld', and is paired with 'Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf' (and of course is on vinyl), so should be no confusion with the original issue
