  1. yes, the very one in the video, now owned by Gary Steele
  2. I did have Edwin Starr Ric Tic 45s signed but under his birth name Charles Hatcher, just as the Larry Wright and the Johnnie Mae Mathews I no longer own them. I have a large number of autographs in my autograph book though, that aside of the thread of course
  3. I'll post some more up later
  4. Steve Mancha (Clyde Wilson) did Parr Hall Warrington where he didn't sing as he didn't do any rehearsal due to the demon drink getting the better of him whilst stopping with Chris King Steve then did Casino 11 in Birmingham and was able to sing. Melvin did Prestatynn and later Cleethorpes weekender
  5. That's a great story mate
  6. Only in more recent years did I learn that Pat Lewis backed on Cecil Washingtons biggie
  7. Just an obsevation, didn't Golden World studios became studio B under Motown controll after 66. The Precissions was recorded in 67? and likely to have been recorded at Terra-Sherma or United Sound. Just an observation ?
  8. I don't actually know but a combination of several names are possible, Pat Lewis, Joyce Vincent, Andantes, Rose Batiste, even Gwen Owens, she recorded Hit and Run but never got release. I think for the most part anyone who was hanging around the studio on the day of recording, it may be documented somewhere
  9. ''Popcorn'' Wylie often used the Andantes. (there was a lot of love between he and the girls) Pat Lewis backed a huge amont of artists, both on stage and in the recording studio. She was at times a fourth member of the Andantes too. Elsie Gray of and with the Debonairs backed a fair few songs (there are people more qualified to offer exact details) Pat Lewis backed all of Isac Hayes stuff. Sandra Richardson backed some of Aretha Franklins tracks the list is endless, sadly not always documented
  10. I have most of what you show and so nany more. The home of the Blues sadly Ieant out, never to be returned. The Soul Collector I have several, 1 and 2 shared the same cover. Don't know how many in total, think I have 4/5 issues.

  17. I know where the greatest collection of Detroit records resides, that person I don't think has ever been to an allnighter to my knowledge
  18. Yes, each to thier own, I do wonder at times some of those might be better off collecting stamps or baseball cards, can't see they have any emotional tie's with the music like so many I know, including me
  19. A MEMORIAL HAS BEEN ORGANISED FOR KEV ORTON. BURTON on TRENT. Kev was a regular at so many events over the years, Samantha's, Wigan Casino, Manchester Ritz, Yate, Stafford, KGB, Derby Cleo's, Tiffany's, Baths, Assembly Rooms, Matlock Pavillion, Odd Fellows, Loughborough + more. And local to Burton on Trent djing at The famous 76 Club before the age of 18. Hope those who knew him will attend what is all ready looking to be a busy fun day out
  20. The Andantes did so much moonlighting, Popcorn Wylie was a close friend of mine and he used them often. It anoys me that Berry Gordy's book To Be Loved only mentioned the Andantes group once and the musicians didn't get the credit they deserved either
  21. The Andantes and 4th member Pat Lewis backed every track on Jackie Wilsons Higher and Higher LP to my knowledge
  22. A proper human being, great taste, great DJ a friend and a very modest person. Fly high our friend, gonna miss you. Gilly and Nicola
  23. I spoke to Maura Jackson earlier in the year, her husband Maurice died years ago, a lovely lady. I asked her about Monique (Greene) she told me Monique did 3 releases then left for California shortly afterwards. I asked and sent recordings of the Topper stuff and just as Dave Hamilton had said to me personally in 1990 Maura had no idea of the connection. Probing further I asked if there was any tapes within the family from the older days, sadly not. When Maura relocated from one part of Chicago to the present locacation everything was dumped. Further asking for vinyl she said some guy bought all the stock as he wanted to make ash trays out of them. She said they never made a penny out of music, laughing she said ''we were too nice'' how sweet and how sad is that
