Agree with Brett and Phyllis, an outstanding show with Keith guesting , a real cross section of the best in Soul music , plus some superb choices from Fraser and Felonious as well - especially enjoy the Deep Soul section .This is a great radio show every week on subcity radio , essential listening on a Saturday afternoon or later on the look back podcast .Well done everyone , see you all at The Spiders Web this coming Saturday .Best wishes ,Eddie
  10. Dave ,is the first line " girl my love for you was true " , do the femme vocals go " It's too late " .....if so it's Billy Miranda ....Hope this helps ,Eddie
  11. When I first started going to Wigan , days after my 18th birthday in 1975 ,I thought for a couple of years Russ played some great sides , probably more responsible than anyone for Tobi Legend , which he pushed for ages before it finally took off , The Poppies " Pain in my heart " , Fidels " I'm giving you notice " , Paul Anka " Can't help loving you " which despite the colour of the Artists skin , is a great Northern side .Think he was one of the first with Bobby Diamond " Stop " wasn't he , though this was later on .Think Otis Blackwell was one of Russ's as well , though can't be sure .Russ used to played Sergio Mendes C/ U as Sue Hunt .Think Russ used to play Detroit Executives " Cool Off " and Keanya Collins " Love Bandit " as well ....Best,Eddie
  12. Wigan Casino Jan 1975 , Ace Cannon " Sea Cruise " ......Best,Eddie
  13. Dave Godin was one one of the first to cover records , on his first visit to the Wheel , he covered The Ad -Libs - Nothing worse [ Share ] and Tommy Sears - Get out [ Chalet ] amongst others .Best wishes ,Eddie

  16. I've got a white demo , but you're right , they do seem scarce .Best,Eddie
  17. I heard a theory a while back that the follow - up's to some of our faves , that ultimately didn't get released , were sometimes better songs than the released sides so the company [RCA / Motown etc ] had an even better record to follow up with if the first record was a hit , which they weren't of course .I think this is why many of the RCA collectable sides are rare on Black issue , as they were demo'd in quantity and if they didn't get the thumbs up from the radio DJ's or the listening public , then very few stock copies were produced .Best,Eddie

  20. Remember buying my copy of this album from a record shop in Oxford at the time , think it was at a budget price as well , if you've got this set then you'll probably agree with me that the sleevenotes are amazing and sell the album to the buyer almost as much as the music within the grooves .....Best,Eddie
  21. Really sad news , her " Wounded Woman " set is one of the finest albums of all time , rest in peace Sandra .....Eddie
  22. Fabulous show wasn't it Paul , great mixture of some ultimate Soul sides , plus very informative chat inbetween - well done John !! Best,Eddie
  23. Really hard to pick one track out of an outstanding career and huge catalogue , but I would probably go for " A Lovers Hideaway " [ Hot Line ] or " How do you mend a broken heart " [ Hi ] .Fantastic idea for a thread ...Best,Eddie
  24. I listened in my van today and found it quite an interesting interview .Elton didn't come across anything like the traditional perception we get in the press .Best,Eddie
