Bunch Of 70's & 80's Records
This is only borderline '70s, being recorded in 1970, and is actually more '60s style, I've played it at Barrow Hill and the Qube - it's in the same vein as Be Young Be Foolish Be Happy
-
Overkill A Problem ?
Not as such, but Barrow Hill is as close as damit

Spinning Album Tracks
Let's not forget also cases where the 45 has been edited and the LP version is longer - Otis Clay "The Only Way Is Up" and Prince Phillip Mitchell "I'm So happy" come instantly to mind here.

Lorraine Chandler - Love You Baby
Someone posted on one of the soul mailing lists that it was actually Shirley Matthews who did the alternative "Love You Baby"

How Long
Regular itunes downloads are 128kbps and 79p each, some tracks are also available as "iTunes Plus" which is 256kbps and 99p each - also note that iTunes downloads are mp4, not mp3 so should in theory be slightly better than mp3 as the codec is newer. Also, fixed bitrate however large is inefficient anyway - LAME APS rules or if you have to go uncompressed, theres always Apple Lossless or FLAC.

Has It Happened To You Yet
Sam already has played it - back in '83, IIRC he had it covered up as Alfie Davidson

Can Anyone Help With A Robbie Lawson Scan?
I know Pete French recently listed one for £1400 - not sure what condition was tho.

Levine's New Album
Wonder if he was playing the released 12" version - I seem to remember that having a very long intro?

Levine's New Album

Wanted - Otis Clay - The Only Way Is Up - Echo
Are you thinking of "Messing With My Mind" as later recorded by Clarence Carter? IIRC Otis's version also got a 45 release on Echo.

Absolutely Appalling 45 Sold For $33.56
See you've not lost your sense of humour Remember when you regularly had what you described as an "awful" record called "Your Love" in your box with "current cover up" on the sleeve...(this being when Richard S was playing Mr Soul covered up, which of course has the chorus lyric "your love is slipping away")

Levine's New Album
Exactly - if you remember, that's how the 4 Vandals was twigged - the fact that it was so "balanced" it was obviously multitrack which no minor label would have had access to in the 60s or even early 70s (for comparison, the "Sgt Pepper" album - for which the Beatles would have had access to the very best technology that was available in 1967 - was recorded on 4-track).

Tobi Legend On Ebay
Cor yeah, I paid less than that for my proper one

Gene Chandler - There Was A Time
This is mine - purchased from a JM drop down last year, only about £15: (No working scanner so I held it up to my webcam)

Gloria Jones "tainted Love"
Strange - I used to have it on Inferno 7" for years (the blue one with Sandy Wynns on the other side), and now have it on Champion, and when I had both I couldn't tell any difference between the two versions - unless you're thinking of the Inferno 12" re-edit (which also had the 7" version on), or for that matter if there's yet another release?

Gloria Jones "tainted Love"
At least 2 - Soul Satisfaction (the Decca/ABC/MCA group comp) and Wigan Casino Story - The Final Chapter (Goldmine)

As discussed in another thread - as luck would have it, the relevant tape was right at the top of the box
