  1. The 'inference' bit was a general comment, however you did 'like' the comment, so assume you agreed with it....no biggie at all, I just get fed up of folk who bring monetary value into the quality or not of records.....theyre either good or bad & thats personal & has nothing to do with value. Best Russ
  2. I respect your opinion of the musical content, but not the inference that others may only like it because of is rarity & value. Best Russ
  3. Sorry to be direct, but thats bollox, I respect your opinion & all that but the Camaros, both sides is fantastic, I dont give a hoot if its £10 or £1500, its not whats in ya wallet, but in the grooves, when I first heard this many years ago, I had no idea of its monetary value, just that it took me to soul heaven & back......f*ckin sublime in every way, wash ya ear oles out mucka....... Best Russ
  4. You dont always need to pay to $$$ for good records.......get diggin'. Russ
  5. Yep, could get the original vinyl for a tenner ish in less than 10 mins, great Stafford sound, but some how I dont think the poster cares. Best Russ
  6. IMO the music should be played on the original format of release, whether that be vinyl, CD or MP3. Promoters should ensure that the equipment is available at their promotions. In the past I have cut carvers of unissued tracks only available on CD, I have done this because you cant guarantee a CD player at NS gigs, if there was I would play the CD. With regard to the CC gig in question, what do you expect, personally I never attend these events for that & many other reasons, these events have no relevance musically anyway & just serve to ensure the promoters continue to make their living from the NS brand. Lastly, there is another side to the OVO saga, one that the wannabees have a vested interest in promoting/continuing, that is the old chestnut that people dont care what format & many other such lies that ensure they have a good excuse for not playing the originals they cant or wont search out, but allowing them to continue with what they think others believe is a legitimate promotion or 15 mins of fame as a local yokel DJ...these people will always be seen for what they are, by the genuine hard core soul fans & they can bang on forever, but we all know the truth...... Keep it real & dont sweat the $$$$ promoters or wannabees, we'll be around doing the right thing long after they have disappeared again. Best Russ
  7. Thats MENTAL, the term NS is joke, & an embarrassment to most genuine propper folk who still follow the original ethos of the scene, i think it should be the other way around, the 'pretenders' should be sued under the Trade Descriptions act lol . Cant lose any sleep over this & cant understand why anyone is suprised, as far away from the scene I'm involved in as you can get, it wont be too long now before we're back to how it was, a few hundred genuine people attending the few remaining clubs that will play the real McCoy !!!. Chill out & enjoy whatever your into...... Best Russ
  8. The Ishola Muhhammad is fab, the whole show was amazing in fact !!!....with regards to the Ishola Mahammad, along with the rest of the soul fraternity 'I WANT ONE' so please dont be shy, if incredibly anyone has a copy for sale PM me. Fantastic show lads thank you very much.... Best Russ
  9. I thought the original WD was found at John Andersons after Ian Levine returned from hearing it on his trip. I thought all the issues were dodgy in some way....cant remember what it was now ?. Wasnt the instrumental released on Inferno ?. Russ
  10. Good job Rich......great taster to give a flavour of what to expect from the Easter block buster..... Best Russ
  11. Brian Rae was the promoter i think, good nights too...... Best Russ
  12. Yeah, think your right Phil, my perception of time is fukced these days. I'm fine & dandy- you ? Best Russ
  13. I just bought one privately in the UK.........so all those attending the Deep South gig in Southampton on Easter Saturday will be in for a treat, thats if Mr Thorley doesnt beat me to it lol. Its been about for years, Butch played it at least 5 years ago, probably more than that actually & I think Shifty played it at the 100 Club too, altho I could just be making that up..... Cant wait to play mine when I get home this weekend woohoo........now someones gonna come on & go, 'well actually its not that good blah, blah'...to me its its hoofin NS with a capital H. Russ
  14. Well, that was fun, well done Simon & Tony....chat room was kinda cool too....... Best Russ

  17. Just love the Queen Yahna......a huge record for me at the 'Uptown Down South' do's at Abshott & the Newbury Nighters....just buy it !!! Best Russ
  18. I doubt it very much.... Russ
  19. Yeah & I think you can have a sound within that, it doesnt have to be specific, its very difficult to define Win......I think we're trying to explain something that cant really be defined. Russ
  20. The promoter should be hiring DJ;s that fit the clubs sound. Russ
  21. Yes, agree entirely & thats the point, its not about a particular record, but about the vibe that is created within the said night as a whole by all the records played, it might be instigated by the vision, if they had, one of the promoter & resident DJ's, if it works the 'sound' becomes asscotiated with that venue......most long running venues have a particular sound, the 100 Club for instance has evolved through many phases & sounds over the years. It isnt even intentional a lot of the time...only with hind sight.......the whole 'sound' thing is pretty indefinable to be honest.....you just know & feel it......... Some DJ's have thier own sound too, Karl Heard for example. Russ
