  1. Its on their first LP...released in the US and Uk....its from their psych/toytown pop period.
  2. Dom Bassett....he was driving haulage trucks for a while and i believe he is into architectural salvage now...admitted to me he played Will Power off a carver.Always liked bit of violence.! and refuses to deejay anywhere.
  3. Ha ha Dave i regularly have drinks with that top Wigan dealer and can confirm what you have said...re the scooterboys...these were the descendants of the mid seventies scooterboys who wanted the most up to date scoot which at the time was a Gp from 69.They stopped production in 71 and the Spanish Jet 200 filled the void until 1976 and Arthur Francis of Watford imported the Indian ones....series 1 s and 2 s were considered for grandads. The Vespa PX was the classic eighties scooterboy scoot.
  4. Jon Lucien was a massive record on the jazz scene in the UK in 87 88 played from The Rashida lp.Nobody wanted the 45 ep on that scene as the lp was king which is how i snagged one.
  5. What do you think of this.....i recorded it on a soundburger which caused hissing..I like it a a record but not enough oomph for my playbox.I will get around to uploading the unreleased tracks i dubbed from a sixties Canadian radio session by Jay Jackson and Little Diane
  6. Ive asked Richard to deejay but the dates he has been available never matched with my venues availability. He was recently in london deejaying at a riverboat do....who knows what direction he wants to go.He might want to deejay oldies...he might want to go newies...whatever he does it will be interesting.Loved the Ritz rarest of the rare niters.
  7. Yes I was known to visit Brighton Madeira Drive in the ate eighties/early nineties....afew people were naming funk deejays so i thought id throw my 10p in with this lot.

  13. The best record posted....love this and their other one Got To Have You....i really think there should be a thread....records that could have been played out in the golden period or got lost in the fast turnover.

  16. Saw loads of great deejays at Stoke on Saturday..they had a dancefloor of 1500 people in the palm.of thir hands...Sean Chapman...Chris King Dave Evison...etc etc.Electric atmosphere...no warm up records...and Soul Sam in a smaller room with a packed dancefloor....amazing stuff.

The sort of sounds that this thread is aimed at are Deep Funk sounds as pioneered by Keb etc in small clubs. The thread should be retitled deep funk not funky soul.So the deep funk scene died and is being ressurected at rare soul clubs.I bet a lot of these sounds are Deep Funk oldies to people like Wrighty Jap Jimmy Russ Smith Trouble ....Deep Funk oldies are the rare scenes newies.
