  1. Whats the demographic of the people who attend it though - lots of people from where I live went, none of them gave a toss what was even played, let alone what it was played off, they go for a drink and a dance and a laugh. So for the 5% who are outraged - the other 95% don't care.
  2. Well I like seeing kids enjoy themselves and they looked like they were having a fabulous time, you grumpy b*stards. Someone on the youtube comments says that the Etta James record is sh*t. Etta James and sh*t, not two words that usually go together
  3. Well I wrote that 22 years ago so I probably wasn't joking, and having relistened to Leo's Sunship, I'd now give it half a star so I was right first time
  4. That's down to Mal C on here. Genius.
  5. Have Gloria on Wigan tape June 77 Only time I ever heard it
  6. Stafford I'd guess...never heard it til late 80's
  7. Cheers everyone. There's another article on the site but everyone has definitely seen that so I won't link it.
  8. Watched it when they broadcast it on BBC 1, was crap then as well
  9. I did it in 1992 for Record Collector mag...always liked it!
  10. I know you've all seen this before but look how nice it looks after a revamp! https://www.rare-soul.com/wordpress/grapevine-records/
  11. I sold the crap quality vinyl one for £40 and the really good quality red one (same as the gold one but red) for £50 both last week, both on Discogs. I bet if I'd put £75 on each they'd have gone. Just couldn't do it!
  12. The sound is bad ion the intro, dubbed off a very crackly 45, no need really as they could have dubbed it off a mint bootleg! (Before I forget, you know what you said about Russ playing Spencer davis in the big room and I said you are correct - well you were, but when I checked the tape, Russ is actually standing in for Dave Evison and doing his oldies spot - hence him playing SD)
  13. Test press of the Goldmine version?
  14. Still not heard this - has anyone?
  15. Playing the Grapevine / RCA acetates: don't forget that when JM auctioned these, some went for over £500! No wonder people want to play them out / show them off. I personally think they're just showing they've got more money than sense, I'd rate them at £50 apiece.
  16. Those 'British demos" of the Del Larks etc are bootlegs as far as I know. The green and white ones?
  17. Yes, 1977
  18. Never heard the rain story John but they did come from Ruby Red via a mutual friend, they also did the Cool Off b/w All Of My Life boot.
  19. That's the Grapevine release - an acetate of the Grapevine release I mean
  20. No I mean it will never be on their site - they've lost it - if it doesn't show up immediately, they don't know where it is
  21. Wow, awesome stuff Steve, the man is a genius...I'll repost that
  22. I sold the boot this week and the original is a thinner, more flexible press with tapered edge, as said above
