  2. Thanks Chalky
  3. I don't know about you, but there's loads of tunes I've been told are fantastic, but are so rare that I can't find them to listen to........ Here's a few that I'd love to hear, anyone help?........ TOBBI BOWE - I CAN FEEL HIM SLIPPING AWAY - PATHWAY PAUL KELLY - THE UPSET - LLOYD KEITH CURTIS - I GOT TO KEEP YOU BABY - SMOKE TERRIFICS - LEAVE US ALONE - DIAMOND JIM GRAND PRIX'S - ROAR OF THE CROWD - TINA
  4. One of those tunes that sounds much better when played out. Really vital and exciting. And those breaks fantastic. Total dance floor viagra, gets me up every time. Phil.
  5. Think this is one of those that everyone dreams of owning. It's been top of my wants list for quite some time now, along with other dream titles like Celebrities, Tranells, Four Dynamics, Explosive Dynamiks, Mr. Lucky, Little Stanley, Poets, Saints........etc. etc.etc..... Good luck tho' Baz
  6. I agree with you that the quality of some of the tunes leaves a lot to be desired. But I find the site very useful as a reference. And I have played some and not liked them, only to hear them played out and thought wow that sounds awesome. There are also tunes that you need to hear a few times before they grow on you....... So I'm very greatful to John for the site, I just wish you could hear ALL the tune.
  7. Blimey, you bit on that one Ian. ...... I've seen loads of them for sale since J.M. got the grand on his auction....
  8. Another example of this is the Masqueraders - How on La beat. No way is this a rare piece, but since J.M. auctioned it everyone expects a grand for it.

  12. It comes from THE STRANGE WORLD OF NORTHERN SOUL film that Ian Levine made. I can remember the quote, but not the guys name. It was from the late sixties wheel era when there was a sense of support amongst the youth for the black americans who were still fighting for their civil rights. That's where the black gloves and the "right on" expressions come from. I think to most kids it was just a "fashionable" thing at the time. But there was a feeling of empathy for black Americans at that time and the music was more blues orientated. It might sound naff now, but at the time it was considered very cool. But we were VERY YOUNG. Phil.

  20. I was at work till 7pm today and would love to know the end prices on Johns auction. Anyone help please? Best, Phil.
  21. Ian, sorry to hear about your domestic problems. I think most of us have been there, so can appreciate your predicament. ...... I did get a copy for Mr. Murphy recently, but I don't think I should disclose the amount on here...... I bought my own copy off Pete Smith about a year ago and paid £400 for it. I never saw the one on ebay or I'd have bought it to sell on. Very cheap i.m.h.o. ps your new computer is much better than your old one. Your posts fit on the screen, and I can answer them now. Phil.

Last chance before these go to auction.
  23. The sound quality on the Washpan 45 is crap. John Manship did have a proper test pressing of it but it was very expensive, £500 I think. But I love it, very atmospheric. Phil.
