  1. Not been to this event since it moved, and not been to Bidds since it was done up, so can't comment Mik. I used to love the old Bidds venue.
  2. Touché mate.

  4. I disagree mate. I've been to do's that are touted as being fantastic, and they were terrible from my point of view. Don't forget that most people go to soul do's as their social life. They aren't bothered about anything other than they can get a good drink and their mates will be there. Also, if you aren't one of the in crowd and you don't ask everyman and his dog to do a spot, people won't attend your event no matter how good it is. Nobody dare criticise anything as it will be seen as a personal attack. How are promotions going to get better if we are willing to accept any old rubbish? Politics has killed it.
  5. https://www.ebay.com/sch/cravenmodelcentre/m.html?item=171427994680&ssPageName=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562 Ending Saturday 30th August. Don't forget I'm in the UK so there's no customs to worry about, and you will probably get your record the next day. And I provide a money back guarantee if you aren't happy with your purchase. If you live outside the UK then no problem. Will post anywhere.
  6. There aren't any good ones, that's the problem. Unprofessional in every way, the ones I've been to. Never been to the big oldies nights so maybe they are run properly. It's usually a case of lets start a night up. Find a room, buy a Dj in a box set, and beg, borrow or hire some PA. Get your mates to Dj and expect it to be rammed. Fantastic flyer, shame about the [venue, sound system, music, lack of seating, lack of lighting for record sales, unfriendly door staff etc.] add as applicable. If only there was a nighter that addressed all those issues.
  7. Trouble is Bearsy, the people who have the best records haven't got the time to do Dj spots all over the country, and aren't that interested in doing so. Conversely, the people who push themselves forward at every opportunity, and constantly promote themselves on facebook haven't got the records or the taste. I don't give a **** what anyone says. There IS a finite number of good sixties records.
  8. I'd be climbing over tables trying to get out if that was playing......
  9. See post number 3
  10. My god that's ghastly.
  11. TOWANDA BARNES - YOU DON'T MEAN IT - A&M W/DJ EX £100 WALLACE JOHNSON - BABY GO AHEAD - SANSU M- £100 Please PM to reserve and add £2.50p for postage and packing.
  12. Never, never, never, use the centres that come with the Technics 1200 series turntables. They are far too big in diameter and will jam in 45's especially styrene ones. Either throw them away, or for aesthetics glue them into the recesses in the deck.
  13. I love music......anyway you choose it........
  14. Take me to the river, Hallelujah!
  15. That's what I have in my search, but I still keep missing good stuff.
  16. What upsets me more is, why are there loads of things going through eBay that I never see? Looks like I need to alter my search criteria as I seem to miss loads of good stuff.
  17. It's not just the lookalikes. I have had so much trouble on eBay, what with customs charges, records that were cracked, records with cue burn and then buying an eighties boot with a scanned label stuck on purporting to be an original and last but not least, over graded records. It kind of explains why people are willing to pay through the nose from JM's auction. It may be expensive, but it's hassle free. I'm thinking of packing in eBay all together. I think as these records get older and harder to find at source, the stuff that is coming onto the market is the dregs. Especially as rare vinyl is being seen more and more as an investment, minty 45's don't seem to come onto the market very often. They're in collections.
  18. I was looking very sharp when I walked in the other week. Looked like a drowned rat when I walked out though.
  19. The part about us all being fashion victims made me giggle. Has he ever been to a nighter.
  20. Trouble is, i put a record up for £75 the other day because there seems to be a lot of them around. Sold it straight away. But then saw one for £100 a few days later and that sold straight away, so now I'm thinking, shit I should of tried a hundred quid first.
  21. Very nice post, and well put.
  22. On the other hand I would have paid that for the Saints. Thought it would go much higher, bet it would have if I had bid on it.
