Who Discovered What ?
Brilliant, I remember that night well ...love this thread, but as a novice I never found much vinyl of value on trips to London and now I know why, those experts on the ground who I now call friends were ahead of me every doggone time!

Rhythm Rascals On Sonic - Ever Played?
I'd forgotten all about this, had a copy around the same time as you Sean, played it a few times but no big reaction so must have sold it...can't for the life of me think who to though!

Who Discovered What ?
Good call Gilly!

The Olympics 'brand New Thing'
Apart from my nice shiny original (which is staying put!) I've got a copy on a Mirwood single which is a different take completely, label looks as though it was meant to look "distressed". I take it that it was one that Soussan put out when he had the master tapes from Fred Smith?

Milton Wright - I Belong To You
Yes Benji, I'm sure there was a quote on here somewhere!

This England
Blimey, you're right...you only put on weight when you spent more time sitting by record boxes than dancing!

Sunday - Ain't Got No Problems
Ah but my Chess demo has an early attempt to Tippex out the artist and title - must be unique!

Al Kent
Yes, the proper demos are all multi-coloured IIRC...

Le Tre Femme - Open Up The Safe
Well thank you birthday boy ...if I ever find out who told me that pack of lies at 4am at a niter 30 odd years ago, I'll be able to tell 'em they were wrong!

Le Tre Femme - Open Up The Safe
Don't think it's that rare on Uptight, got mine back in the 70's and dig it out occasionally - am I right in thinking that the 20th Century ones are all demos - did it get to the issue stage?

Johnny Wyatt
Yes, I noticed that - those Radio London charts are worth looking through, quite a few little gems of trivial info - and as mentioned some time back Tony Blackburn once had the Tiffanies "Got to be a great song" on Chess as his "Disc of the week"!
-
Johnny Wyatt
Thanks all - that's fascinating info! As Roger says, always something new to learn!

Have a look at Number 40 on the chart: https://www.radiolondon.co.uk/rl/scrap60/fabforty/oct66/oct664/fab231066.html I thought the President release was a few years later - so were they playing it from a US copy? And if they were, was another UK company considering issuing it at the time? I was a big BIG L listener around that time but can't recall hearing it then though!

Chateau Impney - Droitwich
He he, I'd forgotten that! - yes, he was at Soulfusion a few months ago and celebrated his birthday at Coppertops earlier this year as well.
-
Chateau Impney - Droitwich
Just out of interest, here's a list of the live acts that I know of who played at the Blue Moon - these acts often went on to play places like the Golden Torch or the Carlton in Warrington on the same tour...the ones in bold I actually saw! BLUE MOON.doc

Chateau Impney - Droitwich
Blue Moon closed in summer 67 Richard - the Hendrix gig was 11 February 1967, with Geno the next month! It was then converted to the Spa Lounge by the same owners but IIRC the soul boys had to find somewhere else for a while as they were aiming for a different market, hence the dump of a venue I mentioned. Of course we got back in there and it became THE venue right up to 73, can remember "The Major" (Andy Anderson himself!) along with some others spinning up there - R Dean Taylor on a single when it was dog rare, Guy Darrell, Dottie Cambridge and more!! Andy also ran a couple of coaches to Whitchurch dayer, remember the "bomb scare" one? Oh, and the clothes shops - Leslie Hull, Roydens etc!!

Chateau Impney - Droitwich
Jinx is still out and about, he and I were both dj'ing at Berkeley for Andy Edwards last weekend and he'll be at Soulfusion 21 November as usual - and Steve, I've a feeling that it might have been Denise who looked out for me at the Torch as mentioned in t'other thread! Never got to the Chateau, too young, but in Cheltenham between the Blue Moon closing and the Spa Lounge opening (1968) there was a dump of a little club next to Alstone Baths where two girls in the year above me at school played the tunes, Froggy, Docker et al used to come over so the tunes were pretty hot, always remember going down there with Simone Oliver, who lived a few doors away from me, and her mate April (can't recall her surname but remember where she lived cos it was on my paper round!) and being hacked off cos the Gloster boys picked them up and took them home leaving me to walk all the way home across town!

Sharon Tandy - Hold On
See what you mean - thanks for the link, I've not heard their version of Circles since the pirates, and never knew of the Waygood Ellis connection!
-
Sharon Tandy - Hold On
...and wasn't the "Tony" in Tony and Tandy (Two can make it together) the lead singer in Fleur-de Lys?
-
Sharon Tandy - Hold On
True - I loved it when it first came out, but for some reason I've never had one - have to make do with the RP version instead!
-
Eddie Parker & Billy Sha-Rae
Recorded versions of the same song for different market areas in the US - IIRC Ady C mentions this in his sleeve noted for one of the Kent LP's.

Volcanos-Your N0 1
How legal were the reissues? I know most have Virtue scratched in but I sort of recall it might have been a liitle bit of a grey area...

This England - Restored And Re-Released ?
Not as far as I know - certainly can't remember seeing any mikes at the time of filming.

This England - Restored And Re-Released ?
...wouldn't it be an idea to replace that with the out-takes?
