Going Rate 4 Tamla-Motown R&w Demo's 2012 Update
Hi Dave Sadly, I only have a couple of TMG demo's and they're G&W's. TMG 506 Earl Van Dyke - All For You is on popsike indicating 2 sales on ebay ( £365 and £587 ) in 2008. I remember seeing 4 Tops Shake Me Wake Me on JM's auction go for £175 a couple of years ago. Dunno about values really, but agree TMG 555 is an absolute classic with a good flip too! ATB Mike

The First Record That Got You Hooked ?
Band of Gold is not a bad first record. Mine was Green River - Credence Clearwater Revival although I think my eldest brother told me to get it! Back to Invictus, this was the record I bought on my first visit to Wigan. Only got there twice!

The First Record That Got You Hooked ?
The Youth Clubs I went to used to play mostly Glam. Nothing wrong with that, but the DJ at the weekly disco at the local Mecca used to do a northern slot which included Out On The Floor, Sliced Tomatos, Snake and Tainted Love. This was 1974 and about the same time I got a tape from one of my elder brothers' mates which included:- Darrell Banks - Our Love Candy & The Kisses - 81 Wally Cox - This Man Major Lance - Follow The Leader Nella Dodds - Finders Keepers My fave then used to be Darrell Banks. Bought it on a boot at the first all nighter I went to but recently replaced it with an original. Still a great double sider. ATB Mike

New Podcast - Motown Tracks
This is good - lots I've not heard before - Incidentally the version of God Is Love is different to the single. I love that Ruffin Bros track - was on the motown album only tracks thread last year. Thanks for sharing ATB Mike

What Are Your Thoughts On This, Heard It On The Radio
It's OK - sounds like a live recording to me.

(Non-Soul) New Podcast " Early Bowie 1964 - 1970 "
What do you think of Bowie's appearance on Soul Train - i mean the interview bit rather than the performance? I only raise it because of Don Cornelius's recent death. Some kid asks him when he first got into soul music and he replies something about when he was taking poppers on street corners - poppers indeed!

Just "Glamming" it up a little bit.

(Non-Soul) New Podcast " Early Bowie 1964 - 1970 "
You don't like Shapes of Things and Here Comes The Night? I know what you mean though, it's not to all Bowie fans tastes - could be a bit of a muso's album? ( I make no apologies for being a muso however ). Anyways, finished me dinner and had a listen to the Podcast and as you say those Pye and Parlophone singles are superb especially Do Anything You Say which I've never heard before.

Wot no Laughing Gnome? Seriously though, there's loads on there I've not heard before so I'll look forward to listening to this when I've had me dinner. I always liked Pin Ups which as you know is his look back to the Marquee etc. Thanks for posting Mike

New Podcast " On The Brink " Northern, 60's, Popcorn Etc
The tracks I'd forgotten about on that compilation were:- Tony Rivers - God Only Knows The Gods - Baby's Rich Boston Crabs - Gin House The Locomotive - Armageddon The Moles - We Are The Moles Roulettes - Long Cigarette Viv prince - Light Of The Charge Brigade Artwoods - What shall I Do ( think that's Ronnie Wood's first band?) Love Sculpture - the Stumble Rod Stewart - Shake I'll have to refresh my memory of these on You Tube I bidded unsuccessfully on ebay recently for the Terry Reid 45 - think it went for about £25. I went to see Ian McLagan at the Half Moon Putney last summer and was suprised to see Terry Reid on the bill later that month, obviously still gigging.

New Podcast " On The Brink " Northern, 60's, Popcorn Etc
Hi Pete I always loved that Action single ( Since I Lost My Baby on the flip ). First heard it on a EMI compilation ( My Generation ) which came out about 1977 (Mods & Rockers illustration on the cover ) Had stuff like Yardbirds - Happenings 10 years Time Ago , Tomorrow - My White Bicycle, Terry Reid - Hand Don't Fit The Glove ( that's a great track incidentally which would have fitted into your podcast nicely ), Shotgun Express - Feel The Whole World Turn Around , Downliners Sect and several others which I can't remember now. I found the action single on a Market Stall outside Swiss Cottage library - this was about 15 years ago and the guy wanted £6.00 if I remember right. Didn't have the cash on me at the time and of course when I went back the next week, it had gone. Always regretted not just going to a cashpoint. The Action's unreleased album has got some good stuff on it too. Think they did that about 68 so it's a bit psyche - you've probably heard it. I'll have a listen to the podcast tomorrow. Oh yeah - thanks for sharing. ATB Mike

What Are You Listening To Now
Almost forgot to tune in. Been listening since 8pm and it's been superb. Another DJ I'd recommend is Kev Laws ( another great Norwich DJ ) He does a show alternate Tuesday's on Future Radio. He's always had a great taste in soul music. First hour is northern followed by an hour of modern.

I don't think you can download, as Dave & Malayka's radio shows are on Mixcloud and I couldn't figure out how to download them. Nevermind, I will listen online!
