  1. Just been listening to these - Jackie Lee - Trust Me - must get a copy of that!
  2. Agree with you and don't mind admitting being fond of Club Classics - The Soul Night I usually attend plays a fair smattering of these and for me it's part of it's charm. Was at Crossfire on Saturday and one of the best spins in the main room was 4 Tops Reach Out although I was a bit surprised to hear Groovin With Mr Bloe and The Casualeers. Here's a few Soul Night Spins I'd go for which haven't been mentioned:- 5 Stairsteps & Cubie - Stay Close To Me Impressions - Can't Satisfy/ You've been Cheating Harold Melvin -Satisfaction Guarenteed Trammps - Hold Back The Night Platters - With This Ring O'Jays - Backstabbers Barry White - What Am I Gonna Do With You
  3. It's definately popular - infact somone on here PM'd me yesterday asking if I wanted to sell my copy.
  4. Billy Looking forward to another "perfect moment on the dancefloor" when you DJ at Mark's 50th - Can't wait! Mike
  5. Anytime someone whacks on the Temps - Girl Why You Wanna Make Me Blue - most recently by Ollie at Nunhead - Also hearing Getting to Me last summer at the 100 dedicated by Ady to the Norwich crowd 30 mins after I'd been verballing to him outside about the virtues of this track and his great story about discovering the acetate up the street on Hanway Street - First time i'd heard it played out, being a recent returnee to the scene - nice one Ady!
  6. That's pretty much what Berry Gordy said - Marvin ignored him!
  7. Yeah nice track - I'd say the instrument is an electric guitar - but could be wrong.
  8. O'JAYS - TIME TO GET DOWN - CBS I like this.
  9. Last 5 Jaybirds - Somebody Help Me - Sue Major Lance - The Beat - Soul City Boby Franklin - Ladies Choice - Fee O'jays - Time to Get Down - CBS Junior Walker - Way Back Home - Tamla Motown
  10. Thanks for your reply Jaco - I wasn't aware of DFTMC - am now.
  11. Does anyone know if either of these tracks were issued as singles?. Both songs appear on the "Unissued" album as does "You Can Come Right Back To Me b/w Dinah" which I gather was isued as a single in 1971 on the Motown label (offered for sale to me over the phone so didn't actually see it although by a reputable collector) but I would have thought either of the above tracks would have been much more commercial releases making me wonder if either was issued. Can't seem to find a reliable USA David Ruffin singles discography on the net .
  12. I always loved the poster which came with Motown Disco Classics Vol 2 - My eldest brother bought the album for me Xmas 74 but asked him to swap it for Motown 4 ( well I was 13 - young, foolish but at the time happy with Motown 4) Recently bought a copy online for the poster. Isn't Tammi Terrell stunning in her pic?
  13. Dunno if it helps but stevemochan on here had Tommy Turner - Lazy for sale last Friday for £600 described as D, presumably demo.
  14. I posted up a thread about this one earler in the summer - great "cheap as chips" track
  15. Thanks Roger. Any views about value. I thought I saw it last week on one of the websites going for £50.00. Seemed pricey to me.
  16. Surprising cover versions both heard at 100 club in May - first was a cover of "There's No Love Left " ( TMG 555 b side) which sounded great to these ears but was a floor emptier - anyone know whose version it is? It sounded early 70's and struck me as an obscure number to cover. Second was a cover of " Gimme Shelter " - a floor filler but again I have no idea of the artist.
  17. On styrene Matrix No ZTSC 107603
  18. I've just acquired this 45 online. The vendor emailed me to say that " rather than the demo advertised, he had sent a straight copy ( Serial No R-11008 ) which is rarer" (and in better condition apparently) I'd be interested to know if there is any truth in the suggestion that the straight copy is more desirable. Incidentally, I paid a tenner for it.
  19. Been having a listen to the album on Spotify and noticed EPR appears on a compilation called Soulshaker Vol 5 which has loads of other impressive contemporary soul with a vintage twist eg Baby Charles, Kings go Forth, Zamali, Sweet Devines - well worth investigating
