  1. Have been loving my soul slow and moody ever since just like my dancer's ones. By now the difference is that when I play one people think that I've fallen into that 'low rider' 5 minutes fashion while I have such records for 35 years for example. As a long time crate digger I was always picking up gear to pass on too to get my wants. So am I new to those sounds or records ? New to loving them ? No far from it. What is new is that it has taken anew interest in a general way rather than that of the smaller typical 'niche' market of the then "classic" deep-soul collectors, the harder to get around Japanese soul scene or the Jamaican's in Miami one of the then days. What is new is with the rise of interest for that Chicanos 'low rider' hype, craze or trend (call it what you want) is that these the prices suddenly followed the "work-out" of the northern soul one. That which is not right, good nor healthy. Why ? Because northern soul prices initially were made by dee-jays and then collectors ! Prior to the internet days these values were still rather "underground" and the northern soul market "protected" from other markets speculative approach. With articles on them records appearing on the public books stalls or with the dreaded northern soul prices guides began to appear it became less self regulated. Now open to all sorts of speculations from the "antiques" market northern soul became very reactive to inflation for example. That which is a really unhealthy sign. Never that scene should have become so "liberal". But with the "revival" of the late 9T's it all became evident that many came back with deep pockets and spirit. Other split scenes coming from that seventies British realm followed like modern soul or deep-funk with that used same price/value systems given by both by dee-jays and collectors from the scene. But for those "deep-souls" suddenly breaking through the roof prices that are not related to a club scene of enthusiasts it is odd. Or is it not ? Could anyone name me the famous dee-jays pushing it at this very moment explaining the suddenly boom in price. Or is it another example of young hipster comers on the collectors scene that need to give artificially these records high tag prices à la northern soul to give those a credential capitalistic boost ?
  2. OK sure I can believe it was Chalky. Thanks for correcting that then. But for value what back then ? Not worth much either as the few copies I remember seeing pre or just past 2000 were nowhere like "big" even for then. As for the "better" flip-side 'what you gonna ado' if it has indeed a better potential. Yet quickly the song dwell into repetition to a bore and nothing else exciting follows up past the second verse after the intro. What a pity. Typical of a project where only few good ideas were put together with plenty of nothing copycats gimmick stuffs added to fill in the gaps. A record that I kept on trying to love but never really could for both sides.
  3. My 2 cents here the 'no explanation needed' side was first picked up on the northern front some 10 years ago as 'something obscure' and else (that's for sure) by some dee-jays without better not 'overplayed' tunes as it was still a fairly easy pick back then (got mine so). It's an OK record but never one that I find exiting to play home. As for out I would never have dared. Music is lazy and the vocals pushy to the limit of bare-able to me. The under therapeutic obstinacy 'low rider' commercial boat (now sucked in by hipsterism and other similar almost Satanic cults - so clearly not the real-deal elder folks out there) is starting to seek deeper and deeper in some strange musical realms at times I find. Going for the odd small pressed-up runs of small labels records with deep pockets newcomers investors willing to 'splash' their money with arrogance anytime they can.
  4. That's hard to tell really. It depends how much one rates the most common USA ARP press to begin. Like with in EX/M- condition which is the most common press to get hold of. Although IME the M- top clean collector condition is not so common (loads of drill hole...) What £125-150 ? Then add £50 or more for a Monarch press and half that for a Bell press. Then for the promos in the same ordered add between £50 and £100 again EX+/M-. Then a UK stocker is what £500 ? A promo £750 ? Canadian rarer but demand ? £250 ???
  5. That Canadian Tamla Motown is pretty uncommon IME. So yes rare. Seen a few over the decades but never had one even while crate digging there. These Canadian pressings were likely all first press up in small numbers then repress to supply demand as some are very common and likely were press and repress in greater quantities to then supply a growing public demand. Some pre-Tamla Motown variants are sexy looking though. Leaving the others to remain pretty tough to locate after all that time. Met long ago a local collecting all Motown Canadian and American releases but at one time he sold out. To Tim Brown I believe to remember... Although it's still beyond me why they can command such higher price tag but hey I'm not gonna buy them anyway. I collect them American or Dutch for their pics. Or French for their smashing pics yet poor sounding E.P.'s.
  6. The Velvelettes are on their own real outstanding. To my ears and in my book since a teen they were always holding a special place. Later collecting such or such press of each of their releases proved not the easiest thing to gather. Expectedly to careless punters they might be just the other 'Motown' (West to that) act lost in the who's who of Motown that of which they're suffering from (I've witnessed that occasionally) just as they gained from that back then. R.I.P. Bertha Barbee-McNeal. We're forever grateful for these uplifting hymns we love to hum and gitty-up to. Throw A Farewell Kiss... +
  7. Thanks, although for fact it's the recipient country 'procedure reference' that counts, since it'll be different in every recipient country's. In my case Belgium. There's the 'M33-12' standard protocole of the UPU (Universal Postal Union) sharing such datas in their ITMATT system that I know the Belgium Postal Customs use to cross check for every prepaid VAT. That works with the likes of Amazon or postal services like Pitney Bowes as both know how to deal with that UPU system but not Datcogs or the eVilBay although they Bragg with their IOSS number but the Belgium Postal Customs don't take into account without the UPU thing. Still a buddy of mine insists on that oddest 'VAT H5 or H6' thing... Hence my OP.
  8. Seeking what does the 'H5' stands for effectively right there after the VAT. 'H6' and 'H7' exists too. Maybe other numbers as well. From what I've gathered now it seems to be the optimistic estimation of days due for delivery for these international shippings. Can anyone confirm that that is that ? Or if not then what that is then ? And is it 'fee' fixed like linked for an economy, standard or first class kind of shipping and all ? Or is it referring to something totally else linked to it's VAT status if ever ? Or is it irrelevant to any of that ? We're trying to figure out as much as we can here with incoming purchases from the UK to Belgium that is. The Belgium Customs are very 'secretive' on those matter somehow. More so than ever in regard to the last implemented regulations on that matter by F**King Europe.
  9. J.J. Barnes... Words escape me. And then some. R.I.P. +
  10. Anyone ever got the opportunity to compare the quality in playback between both the Karma and Wand release simultaneously ? Regardless of one being a vinyl press and the other one vinyl and whatever prejudicial preferences for one or the other if ever ? Am not talking 'Inner groove noises or distortions' like those related to conditions but really of 'gain', 'depth' and/or 'frequency response'.

Bootleg ! LOL 😉 True but fab none the less.
  12. Raphi bought it from Daniel B. (the one that started them way back) and Raphi for many reasons sold it off to them (without other fortunate taker in the record/music) recently.
  13. They are organizing 'generic' fairs amongst many things... Not into the music or record business by a mile. So yes hopefully they are "pro" at that.
  14. Nice gallery but made to pass through (access underground to the train station) and/or stop to stop by and have one or more drink in one of the bars there before taking the train. Doing that record fair there it is because it's "cheap-er" and doing it now and then at the same time as the X-mas market (sacrilege) is purely with the commercial aim to catch that public. Browsing through loads of such wrong records there in those conditions is purely despairing and coming home empty handed almost depressing. I stayed home and work. I meet Raphi else where. Last time was Thursday at my place. And Lord spare me those toothless "sharks" (I love animals so might sound as a compliment but not) in those collector's (those who prefer money than music) realm.
  15. And ? Did you miss it ? Or did you make a 'HIT' ! 😵

  17. They don't advertise that in their advert but it's going to be cold FWIW. Located in an open gallery (straight corridor) with both ends open to 'air' flow it can be very cold... Go for it if you're strolling around. FWIW I don't go to records fair much at all anymore. Nor to records store either.
  18. By no means, for a country singer record it is quite dear 🤑
  19. Their Windy-C are all fabulous double siders young days "cheap as chips" pick-up records that have not shaded all those years on and 'don't waste your time' is evidently tremendous in my book. When I heard the Shametts version I had to giggle... But it's rare I was told. Yeah so what ? Another rare record I do not need to look out for. Good that. And thumbs up to you Stevie for such a classy spin ! Their Custom follow up 45's are OK-ish but begin lack the edges they had before while at Windy-C and their Buddha's session with few exceptions embark on a journey of trendy 'POP' like it was back then in the hippy days... Not my thang. Much later I picked me up their LP as the Stairsteps '2nd resurrection' and instantly fell in love with their subtle 'modern groove' hymn 'Pasado'. Still love it a lot.
  20. The Rookie : Feds closing of episode 8 season 1 we get the Entertainers IV 'do it right now' Doré !
  21. Mainstream journalism that is maybe a bit better than the regular 'junk' most dish out on such or THE subject likely due to Russ & Richard insights and respective 'egos' on the subject. Numbers of copies pressed are likely not that relevant. But how many copies are sitting hidden in secrecy in collections is. The Guardian's use of the term "liberated" for what is actual stolen property is rather discomforting I find. An ambivalent approach to say the least. Or how to brag about it without being "in the clear" because it is all rather unclear like the dreaded Soussan character. Too much shadow in the picture ? The dark side of NS. Then why no mention of the last 'pre-release' real deal copy discovery that got a re-release for the 'record's stores day' that likely got Bruce interest in the 'do I love you' phenomenon but with a Staseside tale ? A 'gap' in this "investigation" not so relevant to the UK mythology of it...
  22. Freeware shoud good enough. Best way is with a strobe on the platter or side (like the Techies markings on the side of the platter) then with phone in hand and light on strobe. That way one should get preciser measurments and even 'Wow' and 'Flutter' ratios. Other ways might be fair (like phone on platter) for a ball park idea but no more really. As for programms I can't say. They will work differently in regard of how it will measure the platter resolutions. What is more important I've understood is the quality of the "smart" or 'I' phone inner components... I truly can't say more as I only use my ears for that. Those infos I've read on phono audio forums.
  23. So it had it's little "air play" nationaly... And copies have been sold (used copies about) and unsold copies found their ways into whole sale "cut-out/hole-drill" record's stalls. The remaining copies at the distributors were then called off to stop the sales at one time but not that quickly. A rather late withdrawall in the process then. OK. Rare it is ! I'm not saying otherwise. But not that elusive as some seem to claim with no more than 'completists collectors' for target. I mean in comparison with DJ's, in-demand or a momentary 'hyped' records fetching sky high prices. Internet history sales is never that complete or "smart". I.A. gathering 'entry' key words has flaws. Still it is a good reference. The best source we have yet to "count" factualy recent referenced sales FWIW. But it does not count sales/trades outside those two major sales plateforms ! And this record also often went through those channels I believe. One of those record regarded as an "old collector" to have but not to listen to really. Why I'm inclined to believe not too many came out in the 'open' market Y2K+. Likely the few about are stuck in big record collections stateside. FWIW I've had my 'minty/EX' copy (coming from a record's reprensenative collection) that I swapped for like £400 (pushing it) worth 10 years ago. Today's worth I'd believe double max ! That is still too much I believe. That since Motown 'raries' are not so much subject to the recent speculations of the market from what I saw. Where the previously not so rare ones that got exposed through the resurection of the northern soul 'mania' suddently saw a crazy boost in price (Frances Nero & Co.) but this Kim is not that...
  24. It's not weither IMO. Withdrawn makes it more 'elusive' that which is not. Where it was most likely only not well promoted or pushed. Left there like floating around... Never kicking anyone's excitment logically and so never went anywhere commercialy wise. The few very well known withdrawned copies from Motown are much rarer and sought after than this one. The "withdrawn" attribute here was given long ago for purely speculative reasons I believe. To give this item a "hottie" edge factor that it does not have. Hence the finishing price here in this auction given likely from deep pockets who relly on the auctioner's reputation and knowledge (that he has) but that can be seriously questioned at times like in this case. Just taking for fact old collectors boys rumors.
  25. Monarch (normal for a L.A. production) and if withdrawn not quickly... Nor destroyed but 'cut( (drill hole) for whole sale. Involving 3 pressing plants to press stockers to supply the records shops stalls in the North and Mid-West further and even time to send out copies worldwide to record's reprensentative for foreign releases (hense the TMG sole one). Withdrawn does not make sense. Letted down yes or sensible.
