News: Frank Wilson - The Story of Do I Love You (Indeed I do)
Wow ! Great article to read. Again and again and deeper at some stages. Particularly for me is that explanation bit with the story for the 1979 TMG release at Abbey Road Studio comparing the tape sent from Motown and the Eddie Foster boot whose sound had been lifted off from an original SOUL copy. My gut feeling was right but now I know the insight of it.

Custom in Germany from the USA
Don't know, but maybe check the site from the Deutsche Post as it should work and be calculated differently than from every country within Europe but still likely over expensive I would guess.

The Vibrations - (Artist Of The Week)
Yes, great group evidently and my favorite still is 'finding out...' Poppy latin tinged musical accompany with convincing lyrics, pleading lead and harmony vocals to die for that flows and flows endlessly. Holland press is the prime press fa'me.

Impressions - Love Me (unissued alt take)
If I may put my bit into it; I find it very interesting and most worth wile on the history, collector's and alternate take side of things, where I still much prefer the 'regular' slicker and mellower 45 take that is more groovy IMO or more "instant", it is none the less a fantastic 45 to tell versions apart 'epic' discovery. Regards, Tim

Poll: Version Battle - Angel Baby
Not my favorite tune really. The continuous drive can't allow the singer to rest. Pushing the singer to shout in order to sing instead of "slamming". Giving the impression that he is continuously running under stress after his "dovey" baby. First heard the George Carrow version which is a disaster vocally. Then heard Darrel's which is much more acceptable IMO. The 3 1/2 is OK poppy. I never care for Stevie Wonder stuffs with maybe 4 or 5 exceptions and not even this one.

Montclairs "hung Up On Your Love" SORTED THANKS
This is the miss press and it is evidently 'legit'. But it is altogether another mastering (Southern Plastic pressing plant) as well. Had a few of those and I remember that it sounded "smoothened" somehow in comparison with my Monarch promotional copy.

Vanguards #86
#652 (self distributed) red (PL pressing plant) and yellow (? pressing plant) with the yellow one being more common. #80 (Cotillion/Atlantic group distributed) WDJ (PL/SP pressing plants), gold (SP pressing plant) and yellow (PL & MO pressing plants). No bootleg for this common record. Although Discogs lists a bad photo (hard to tell) of a white (?) label (promo ?) #80 (PL pressing plant) as 'RE'... The least seen variation in my experience is the red #652 (PL) one and a #80 (MO) WDJ that I have not seen yet ! Does it even exists ? I can't say. Price/value all the sam though ! The Lamp label collectors should aim for the self distributed pressings I believe. I prefer the SP masterings to the PL.

The Impressions - Love Me - Curtom Demo Unplayed
Well I had both. Pass on the styrene issue to a friend (not the promo mind you) and kept the vinyl copy and both sound fantastic (can't say about the LP though)... But never heard Curtis in there ! Leroy evidently yes. The sentencing in the sale post of Matt is kinda confusing quoting Curtis in and/or out of an LP or is it intended the other way around ??? Fabulous single none the less. Grab it like an Alabama rabbit.

Name that tune
The coat is yours Sire ! Next please...

Mohawk - Rita Dacosta - Don't Bring Me Down
Once I had this one in my hand and thought it to be the bootleg but I was wrong; it is the real thing that the bootleg copied but without the white 'M'ohawk. This is a Monarch pressing I seem to remember, and in Canada you only have vinyl pressing plants. So no Canadian styrene pressings exist I am afraid. The small oddity between the vinyl and styrene press of this lies within the fantastic flip side: 'no !-no !-no !' where this styrene edition doesn't figure the wonderfull dramatic string section as opposed to the vinyl which does ! Rich enough, I'd consider owning both pressings. But allas I am not and trim the collection I must. And since I am found of the 'don't bring me down' Mohawk take, the one I heard first and got to sung under the shower, the Pandora 45 'rawer' take should be worth owning as well... But the price tag it commands tells me that is just not an option. I'll keep my dull looking W/DJ Mohawk copy that sound top though.

Same tune, but male and more "upbeat"...

The peanut duck
Thanks for that educative mp3 bit; morning singing under the shower artistry performance kind of level. But does that mean someone has the reels to it ? Or is it some digital mastering work ? And 35 years after first ear encounter, I still find myself allergic to 'the peanut duck' singing and lyrics. Am I the only one ?

A bit strange on ebay
Oh well, both sellers don't even mention the tear on the label in the item condition description... So maybe it's not even either's actual copy offer for sale. Fair singalong 'pop' 50 cents worth record that made the chart worldwide that I don't need to hear out. Especially at a soul nite. And I have !!! 😮

Lu Pine compilations
Can't remember the title of this late sixties UK compilation on a UK Speciality (Ember) compilation leaning toward the "soul" later productions of the Lupine label, but supposedly not so rare nor expensive and nice looking so maybe worth seeking. Although mastered on low gain I remember...

Sy Hightower
Oh dear, I was hoping only to imply... but there we go they're at it again. We're gonna need to be on the look out for new crook jobs trying to ripp us off ! Sorry for you and good luck with a proper copy find. Would you happen to know if the seller knew or not that this was a bootleg ?

Curtis Mayfield - Artist of the Week
- Sy Hightower
Thanks Chris ! Can't enlarge the picture enough but it looks like it's a 'vinyl' release and not a 'styrene' as the originals are. Is that so ? Cheers, Tim- Sy Hightower
If you're phone accesses the internet you can do it from there using the 'click here to choose files to upload' tab here below. If not, maybe your phone has a bluetooth application to transfer datas onto you computer...- Sy Hightower
Can you post a scan/photo of your actual copy ? Discogs 'comments' are public. Unless it is 'signed' by someone of authority on the matter, it's a bit like the school history books; full of made up 'tyrannies' and 'victories'. The black text on pink being a first release could be true or not. Although many strange and 'made-up' (still making the grapevine today) stories being said on 'alternative' releases when it comes to "prized" records Although it could be true as well. Only in this instance, I have the ex-owned copy of producer Mr. Penna himself (with 'private jokes' hand written by him on paper sleeve) and it's most logically a promo copy... Couldn't rather this black text on pink label (making no mention of the forth coming album that never saw the light) be for instance be a second rush release due to demand after selling out the first batch ? - Sy Hightower
