Lee David ... Temptation Is Calling ... Blue Eyed ?

I do care and I really appreciate to see the artists pictures and their color on the pictures shows, most of the time that is. They kinda tell a story and I love that. By the way it's only my opinions given on the original question and I meant no offense to anybody's lifestyles, beliefs or personal and even universal conceptions, taboos or sacrements. Not too long ago, I was thrilled as shocked to discover (through SS) the Promises 'living in the footsteps of another girl' video-clip to revive it for me more than ever. The same goes with a picture of the Martells featuring Clifford Russel on A-LA-CARTE I was once given !!! Works beautifully when these beliefs drop with facts. Kickin' life like an old tin can...

Lee David ... Temptation Is Calling ... Blue Eyed ?

Right on ! I never cared for either the MVPS or even Ann Sexton 'you've been gone too long' honestly. I still find to this day she has better materials. It's nothing to do with pedigree. Pedigree credits can add to something you like or make you think about it another way, but it can't do it all ! Listening to music with the ears tastebuds still comes first !

Lee David ... Temptation Is Calling ... Blue Eyed ?

Lee David 'temptation' always sounded white to me. And it sounds as poppy as it is soul music IMHO. The Janus up there is only soft pop-country stuff, never southern soul ! Not to worry though, as there are many black singers out there I don't bother to listen to and some white "soul" singers I dig at times... It's good information to know at times as it is interesting to know stories behind artists, songs and records.

Anderson Brothers - I Can See Him Loving You

Don't understand the "PB" but there's a circular "G" kinda machined symbol and on the mono side the run out groove is bigger than on the stereo side and it's all genuine. The mono side also has partial scratched out letters between numbers in the matrix.

Anderson Brothers - I Can See Him Loving You

I slide it into a spare one I have. It was dressed in an Arista company sleeve when he bought it. I had to pull out some nice "northern" soul 45's out of my collection and complete the trade with few out of my sales box as well to feel safe on the deal on both sides though. At last I own this track that I always loved.

		Fabulous Dinos Musicor scan

More clearly; if you look at the discography of Musicor, you'll notice that this Fab. Dino Musicor 1025 was most normally followed by Musicor 1026 that also used both pressing plants and so label variations was still still running but they didn't use the previous older logo labels afterwards. Most likely they ran out of them by then...

Hmm, only different pressing plants Ady. The promo copies exists with both designs. The one from RobbK is vinyl and billb is styrene. It's a classic case where one pressing plant still had the old design pre-printed labels to run presses where the others have already switched to the new ones.

Why did it cease to be underground?

Why did it cease to be underground ? Well because it got taken over by a "wave" of wanna bees underground and "some" promoters and other business people only had to jump on the wagon. Then the medias thirst for the normal "odd" everyday people have something "lite and funny" (unlike the real news of the world) to dish to the yobs, oh sorry I meant the readers. You also have those huge week-enders venues that are so far of the streets it just can't be underground anymore. I doubt it really has anything to do with a sort of passion for that music. Then if makes you wanna dance to. For manies, I believe it's most likely an artefact to go along with the rest like the clothes (all the same brands), the "group" (follow the leader) codes (need to belong) or the bike (with engine if you can afford the gas)... maybe, it's only a maybe, that is why...

biggest & most expensive 45 parcel

I had exactly the same few years ago for a sole 7" record from the USA when P&P was still non discriminating to non USA residents and the complicity of the seller willing to fool custom on commercial value didn't force me to break the bank to take it home. So it's only the fun of it and not the expenses around it that made it stay in my souvenir.

No, that's actually the first/local press. Sound, picture quality as color is rather faint in that video to say the least...

		Talmadge Armstrong Gigi

Wow ! Thanks for pointing that out. Yes they are both defo Jamaican issues. All the typos are right ! Federal records pressing plant. Really nice ! I always preferred the 'give it up' side and kept it for that side. Another detail I just discovered now and love; 'give it up' is the "plug side" on the Jamie/Guyden distributed promo copies...

Hi Ted, good luck with your quest. It might be a detail (but I do love them) to you but there is no WDJ copy of this very first press (even harder to find). It's only when it got picked up by Jamie/Guyden for national distribution that it got the white label promotional press. Hence the one that went on the EvilBay, a first/local press only had a demo stamp ! Cheers, Tim

Diabolics on Togetherness black & yellow Q?

Well, I'm awaiting my black labelled copy through the mail-box by this week. Also I should have the visit of a friend who has the yellow label copy. I will ask him to bring it along and I'll record them both into mp3. In a matter of 2 weeks or so I will have in my PSU & tachometer combo and will then be able to pitch the speed of my turntable to great and stable accuracy. I will then re-record my black label copy pitched down at 40 rpm making a 270 seconds song into a 325 seconds one ! And then we'll see and hear if we have a match !

Bootleggers. How low will they go ?!?

It can't be about politics, jealousy or ethnicity. Let's not put the rich against the poor, the knowledgeable dissing the gullible or the young mocking the old. I started as a 16 year old when I bought my first soul 45's recommended by elders with my pennies. Then got to dig after school in records shop listening the hundreds of 45's and choose between them as I couldn't afford them all ! Finally, travelled around and bought to sell and fund my buys and doing a lot of trading. I was never rich but I did struggle for my records on to which I found my music. And to grace them, they had to be the way I want them; original USA, supa clean looking and playing. Most of the time back then, I was crate digging and bought many records I only heard for the very first time. I'm based in Belgium and didn't go much to clubs then. Now, I have to work harder to get the bits I know, want and can afford. I'm still not rich, I know my bits but not to some others on here, nor am I young as I used to be, so I know my place. No major collector (I never kept a record I didn't like anymore), not a DJ (only occasionally) and not a know it all but I have my ethics. I did buy some bootlegs at one time (pre-tinternet) days. I just don't anymore. The mp3 crap format is good enough for that. But I doubt that those doing the bootlegs and look-a-like reissues are 14 years old pleasing them selves and that those buying them are all 14 years old all the same... Back then, it was done. But today, is not then and maybe people don't learn by history... It was one day called the "rare soul" scene. So it was about discovering, putting into light and pushing the limits. Where is a bootleg/re-issue doing any of that ?

Diabolics on Togetherness black & yellow Q?

Hi Ricky, I've seen that page and there is no info there ! It's just a not very discerning hip-funkster thing on tinternet. As far as I've understood the black label was first issued (from unissued tapes). But no info as to when. Then that yellow reworked (slowed down, added strings and muffled sound) odd version came out... and some seem to still prefer that one ?! Cheers, Tim

And indeed the yellow copy have "added" strings to a "muffled" sound...
