  1. OK, you're right here. Indeed I was looking 4 'Mr Farouk' before on YT but to no avail. What is it musically ?
  2. Two sides of distinction in their own distinctive rights IMHOP. A record that I cherish very much.
  3. No, there's also the contemporary release on UK Deep Soul (Dave Godin's label).
  4. You might want to specify the label... too fast maybe ?
  5. Never heard of that Retreat release. I also forgot to mention the highly uncool-ectable label "Stardust" issue. The B side on TCB is the same as on Kapp "Moby Binks' (surfy guitare instro if my memory serves me right) !
  6. The Joy-Tones on Coed is the real deal. Joy-Tones on Crash is an old bootleg made for the American demand. The Love Potion on Kapp is a second legit lease. It plays identical to the Joy-Tones but for the flip (wich is kinda mindless IMHO) and the Love Potion on TCB is another old bootleg made by and for the American public.
  7. can't access that link like it's been removed a'ready "like the Rod say"
  8. Cheers Rod, was hesitating...
  9. I have a rare record I could try to trade for an ex copy of Linda Jones 'you can't take it' on French Warner Brothers if I get a descent offer on cash and/or trades. So give me a shout (PM) with your offers if you have any. Then I'll see how can I try to convince the other party to do that trade. Cheers, Tim

  13. The one I've always seen before is the "Flash records" logo press. All the copies I've had were minty and played OK even though they all did crease and distort in some bits of the song. Still music dominate. Now after this tread and a search I saw this "Flash" logo press. Does this 1 plays any different ?
  14. I could believe that it is a legit re-issue done in 1973 when Don's labels were sold to ABC/Dunhill and it was remastered to make it "sellable". It does have all the characteristics of those late/last independent Duke and Back Beat 45s. What is odd about it is that all the other Duke/Back Beat issued under the ABC deal were all pressed at the ABC's pressing plants. Not this one ! How come then ? I doubt they were pressed for the beach scene (if/maybe for the 'what's this coming' side then) since I've never seen one of those issues popping out from the States. But in the UK yes. So it was made for the UK market and freshly imported to the UK. But where's the connection with Don Robey and the northern soul ? Knowing that Don died in 1975, did those copies surface before ? And now even if it sounds "cleaner" and "better balanced", I always heard and loved that "bouncing" bass that makes half of the tune on it's own IMHO. Listening just now to the "cleaned" cuts on YouTube I find it misses that big half. Voila !
  15. I have a stocker first release like this one and they seem to be scarcer/rarer than the demos.
  16. Continental point of view: MOD CLUB CLASSIC - transatlantic one: NITTY GRITTY TEXAS BLUES DANCER. Condition is EX.   18. I don't know too much about these Excello releases but when reissuing after few years the Nashboro group managed, it seems, to use contemporary label design to do so as far as I know. These are not later label designs. Maybe they just have use another pressing plant at this one time (late 1961) to supply/meet demand with a "rush release" that actually came in a little "too late" and was not followed-up commercially; which would explain why it is rare® if it didn't sell. Even more so since they didn't "cut" the unsold records for discount price before...1965 or so (?). Quick search on the net;
  19. Don't know the story behind those red colored vinyl 45's on Dynamic but I first have seen yeaaaaars ago in collections the Tonettes 'I gotta know' b/w 'my heart can feel the pain' on a WDJ Dynamic 103. It was 100% the real 6T's genuine stuff. And so is the Commands 'hey it's love' on Dynamic 104 as red vinyl I believe. I've ever seen only seen those two Dynamic numbers on red colored vinyl. So since the Tonettes red vinyl is a WDJ I understand that they must have been contemporary to the first releases and sold/distributed as and for the Commands 104 & 111 with or without the picture sleeve as an option...

  22. Demos are styrene so rather likely the other way around. If it's a legit contemporary rush release to the firsts rounds of pressings it could have been done just before the pink variation at another pressing plant. What I find odd somehow with this grey vinyl copy is that the label is a perfect match (same stamper ?) when it should have it's own stamper/typo/credits and infos order then... just like the Parliament and JJ Barnes ones...
