strangely I dont think I'd enjoy the experience of buying from John Manship, especially on his auctions. I believe Id have to give up allot of my personal info to him in advance of any bid, and the whole bidding thing just puts me off, I know I'm not going to get a bargain, so really whats the use.. you can buy big ticket stuff any day of the week from various sources... I just see the whole things as tainted, old blokes or strange hermits tucked away in far flung places with big fat wallets, its a circus where you throw your money into the ring, hoping you might come out with a trophy for your efforts.. Thats not record collecting, and its not my idea of fun... I get more of a buzz buying a fiver record on here off somebody like Des, thats as good as a thousand pounder, I dont care if every man and his dog has it, cause I dont, and cause its the music that counts.... Now you can all aim your fat wallets at me and FIRE!!! mal
  8. Swifty Swallow... where do we reckon he is now? I have a story I made up about a small bird that migrates every year that I used to tell the kids, he stops at the same tree every year, bu the first time he comes up against some owls!! now Ive got my hero...Swifty Swallow... there he goes...
  9. Reminds me of Bob's interview where he tells the interviewer how he could id a host of Chicago tracks by their labels and typefaces... bit sad really but its a beautiful thing....
  10. I saw this yesterday, grabbed the scans... Ive got Dean Parish - determination on yellow Sparton, they would look luvly together... Mal

  13. Well I thought I'd seen it all.... we were at an 'Apple Hooney' tonight in Tring, celebrating fall of the 'Apples' with a cheeky half and a bite to eat, and we got served Chips in a Toby Jug...!!! Bit of wildlife to go with below that... mal;_)

this is a good one, in fact I had a buyer in LA, but haven't spoken to him in a while.... this outfit had a couple sounds out on various labels, this is a dead ringer for a certain classic 'Northern soul' track, good record in its own right, I need to so sopme more recording so will hopefully get it done, otherwise you can call and I'll play it down the phone,,, want £20 Malc
  19. these two Mp3's of 'Human too' are the same song, just at different speeds... got that wrong
  20. The LP, I asked about some months ago, somebody on here quoted £70 something like that, I saw Gene R sold his a year or so back for £30, so thats what I offered, and shortly after was offered one at that price... so £30... I'll check the two Mp3's I have see if they are indeed different versions, I'd love to get this 45, but it seems it may only exist on a label, not n the grooves....have I got that right Ted?
  21. Just came across this, not mad on whats been done in regard to the re editing, the track doesn't need it, but its great to hear this 'Bumped' up sound wise... gives it a new feel all together... https://www.mixcloud.com/tag/copeland-davis-group-morning-spring/ anyhow see what you think.. mal:-))
  22. think that Paul Ruditz was selling his not that time ago... in fact its still on his web site, spanker as well https://www.rudzysrecords.co.uk/1/prod_1339042-BOBBY-VALENTIN-USE-IT-BEFORE-YOU-LOSE-IT-FANIA.html
  23. Nice to see Parallax sliders in use on Soul related web site... were even 'analogue' when it comes to web sites!!! I wouldn't advertise the fact its a word press site though, your asking to get hacked... best to change the bottom credit, and eighties theme credit, and you should be able to select a different permalink in your settings panel for your addy... Mal;_)
  24. old thread, but on the subject of Clifford Binns, I always loved that Carrie lp that came out in the 8ts, had a unreleased version of 'I'm Human Too', which I love. I can see from Dave Rimmer;'s site that it actually did come out on a 45, and I have an MP3 file which is allot slower, would I be right in thinking thats the released cut? it doesn't sound like its been sped up by the way in case somebody suggests that.. scans actually of the other side of the LP, but you get the gist.. actually I think this lp has 'today I kissed my new love' on it as well, fabulous swayer..
