Re-issued on CD - Vinyl copies are originals - brilliant album btw !!!
  6. Wasn't it played off a budget LP with a pink cover with geometric shapes (Detroit Sounds ???) - seem to think Nathan Jones was also on it .
  7. What a great set !!! Long time since I've seen a list as good as this !! I salute you !!
  8. The Rolling Stones "It's All Over Now" written by Bobby & Shirley Womack & first recorded by The Valentinos must be one of the most successful cover tunes - it was Mick & the boys first number one !!!
  9. One of the last "traditional" Northern tunes played by CC at The Mecca & what a corker of a record it is !!! Does it ever get played these days or is everybody still talking about the girl across the street ?
  10. Is it the "unreleased" one on the Anthology CD https://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/11554946/The-Motown-Anthology/Product.html
  11. ......................... when these new releases become scarce in a few years time - that is when people will be bothered. A bit like the 70s when you could buy Ujima, Bill Brandon, Corey Blake etc. for less than a quid as new releases.
  12. Bobby Womack ????
  13. Bob Sinclair & Two Step in one post !!! That would be a poser for Room 101. It's called Two Step because of the distance you go from your chair..... in case you get a little tired !!!
  14. Two Step is music that should be played on a radio show, on your sound system at home or maybe in the car. It was never intended to be danced to !!!

  20. The Highland Room ceased playing rare & Northern Soul at least 2 years before these records were played !!!!
  21. The problem with all this is that everything "good, bad or indifferent" always gravitates to Wigan Casino. It was a club which lasted 8 years in a scene which spans over 40 years. My take is that Wigan 73-74 was still heavily influenced by The Torch & Blackpool Mecca - the "golden" era for Northern Soul IMHO. 1975-1979 the scene had then ceased to be underground & "the beat" took over - lots of what I thought unacceptable tunes being played. Last 2 years of Wigan Richard managed to drag it back from "the abyss" & some great records were indeed played there.
  22. It's all just soul music to me - too many tags put on the music. Lots of fantastic soul music being released today - why is there a need of a 30 year void before it is appreciated !!
