  1. What a great post! This was what I was talking about Win.
  2. I'm aware of the negatives of the scene that have been expressed in many recent threads. However, yes the music generally is enough to keep me feeling upbeat. Knowing that whatever venue I choose to go to, there's a good chance I can have a dance and be with like-minded friendly souls. A few beers, maybe come away with some vinyl - that's enough for me to want to keep my hand in indefinitely.
  3. Yes yes yes. We need a shot in the arm of some niceness, I fancy.
  4. I'd voice a few opinions, but hey I'm too young. ps, can we have some upbeat threads in this section soon perhaps?
  5. Bloody hell ! Nice one Dave..
  6. Fair point. Though thread title does give a clue .. As said summary approach may work better.
  7. Is it? Looking at putting summary news thread in as alternative. May work better. Yesterday's West Ham takeover and today's school's thread seem to have been worthwhile.
  8. What .. Who .. I'll have a look Mikey. Nothing's been removed though.
  9. I think the news feeds are a good thing for freebasing, as you can check on main stories of the day and have a little debate on given subject if feel so inclined.
  10. Sam Cooke & Chuck Jackson ..
  11. Came across this list of 80's ns venues. Makes interesting reading ...
  12. Yeah was written quite a time ago that one, as you may notice by the number of (now) unregistered members! It was a little bit over the top looking back at it. However my problem was that I preferred the music be underground, maybe pure etc to be appreciated by true soul fans. Rather than sold on for a fast buck. Just cheapened it a bit for me and left a bit of a sour and somewhat greasy taste in the mouth.
  13. Yes that was an oldie .. Dan's about - posted in gut wrench thread the other day.
  14. Never cared too much for Northern in KFC ads ... /index.p...pic=4793&hl=
  15. Ah man, it was. Video doesn't really do his voice justice, he was fantastic. I liberated the poster from that night, still got it somewhere.
  16. Not quite the same emotional impact as the Drifter Perhaps. However this little ditty, also by the late great Ray Pollard is a close second in terms of gut wrench worthiness imo. Gut_Wrench_Ray.mp3
  17. "Nah sorry mate, yer not coming in, you don't appear to be quite soulful enough". Bollox.
  18. Hazel Martin is the black lead vocal on all tracks and isn't he f***ing brilliant!
  19. November 2nd, 2005 382 GBP Ex. Chad Whiffen had a VG+ copy of this while back, without a centre for fifty quid and I missed it.

That reminds me. If it were clapping that was in the grooves, rather than out on the floor, it'd have to be Tommy Frontera. Clapping from start to finish.
  21. Freddie Scott - Hey girl Walter Jackson - Uphill climb to the bottom
  22. S#it hole or no, from the Flamingo to the longest running nighter of all time and the many different venues in between, I say London deffo warrants a shout.
