  1. Copy sourced. Unfortunately sent back due to condition. Still on the lookout.
  2. VG++ or better. Thanks.
  3. Freebasing. 🙂 home. ❤️ Bergerac confirms chummy is not one of us. Sure he’d sold soul stuff before. Be watching like a hawk to see if he sells anymore.
  4. Channel Islands as opposed to US. Anyway some may have seen a copy of the Enchantments - I’m in love with your daughter finishing on ebay Sunday night just gone. Record had a substantial part of the run in grooves missing. Accordingly the winning bid was circa £136. I can only assume this rogue seller ‘gruntfuttox’ was expecting significantly more. As he didn’t reply to messages and earlier this afternoon refunded my PayPal payment. Poor show that. Winning bid is the winning bid. Our friend in the Channel Islands is doing some detective work Bergerac style as I type. Not sure if anyone has had similar happen? Be aware should this be relisted. I think the seller has $$ for eyes.
  5. Thanks. I did see that copy. I usually try and source records from the UK in the first instance. Been stung by import duty etc.
  6. VG++ or better condition. Thanks.

Ideally after a Brunswick 1st press in ex condition. Would consider vg++ and or Coral at the right price.
  8. Yeah I saw that. Manship has one at 250 also. There’s a demo in the US of A ex for 150. Holding out for a reasonably priced copy from the UK.
  9. Demo or issue wanted in VG++ or better. Thanks.
  10. Preferably an issue, VG++ or better. Thanks.
  11. That's put me off my lunch. Sickening.

    Welcome to Soul Source.
  13. In VG++ or better condition if possible please.
  14. Remember great nights at the Fleet around 84/85. Dave Evison playing - 'All your lovins' gone to my head' and Danny Everard playing 'Soft Walking' & Soul Joe Clements. Remember getting the Northern Soul Story 1 LP from Rob Smith at the Fleet a couple of days before it was released. Every hand clap to Freddie Chavez in those days. I had EASC, Central England and Dedicated memberships. By then we were going to the Three Cups in Chelmsford (DSC) with Tony Clayton on a Sunday night. Thursday nights were at the YMCA in Duke St Chelmsford. Another Dedicated do that I think Scottish Mick Love might have something to do with? I do remember hearing the bomb scare plotter did a bit of bird for his exploits? Also enjoyed a frantic time on the terraces apparently, as did others. Great days. Who ran the short lived Ivo Nighters in St Ives? Heard Pyramid for the first time there. Best record ever made.

We have been referring to him as 'Sir Richard Searling' on this here fine site for many a year. So of course he deserves it! Those are my thought Siss. What were your thoughts for thinking otherwise?

Exactly my thoughts. Shocked and saddened. Thoughts are with his family. R.I.P Winnie. 😞

Hi Graham and welcome to Soul Source. Unfortunately you can't be Tyrone Davis and turn back the hands of time. If you could, we could go to the Fleet in 85' and dance to the kind of music you are talking about - one after the other. Times have changed and newer sounds have come along. Though as someone has already said, if you're at a do and you hear the right beat, you should rise up out of your seat and dance. On the point of playing cd's at do's, well if we allowed that any Tom Dick or Harry would be up there and it would all turn to crap in five minutes. If I'm paying fifteen quid to get into a nighter, I want to hear some rare and obscure original recordings. In conclusion though mate, it's a nice problem to have, for soul music I believe (Northern or otherwise) is the best kind of music there is! 🙂

    R.I.P Aretha. A unique soul talent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XESo86WgOrE

  20. Twenty two hundred pounds in three days! What great pals John has and big thanks to members for their generous donations. £285 off £2500 target as at now. I hope he'll be upstanding and avidly dancing again soon, but at least this will help in the meantime. Thanks again.
  21. Wanting to raise awareness for a wheelchair fund for John Silvester. John had a bad car accident not long back and has lost the use of his legs. His crappy NHS wheelchair is a real discomfort and a pain. We're currently 575 sheets away from getting him a nice one. I Hope John will be back to his usual dancing self again before too long. In the meantime, this will help him greatly. https://www.gofundme.com/tnb5nh-john-silvester-wheelchair-appeal Hopefully members can help us reach our target. (Please feel free to move to front page news item - thanks).

  23. Was en route to a Yellow Pages ad sales interview in Surbiton in Surrey in the late 80's. I popped into Oxfam in the High Street beforehand and managed to pick up a copy of Ann D'Andrea don't stop lookin'. Like Dayo's scenario in post # 1, it was the only decent record in the shop (and yes, still got it).
  24. Backdrops and one black glove wearing came from Alvin Cash & the Crawlers performance at the Wheel in 67'.
