  1. Let’s see where they all are in a few years time when work and family stress and strain kicks in. We saw it with the bunch who came when the film was about, mostly all disappeared now. Lets be honest, Bristol, London and other large cities have large student populations and if you can’t fill a venue in these places then you are doing something wrong.

When it was first mooted Jimmy Mack was JSC I listened to both and felt they weren’t the same singer. As far as I am aware there was no evidence to say they were the same, just a hunch.
  3. As Kev says the previous format was far too predictable with far too many games no having to matter. The new format has proved far more exciting for the fans with every game seems to matter. A lot of goals too. Real used to simply cost through to their group games, they can’t do that now and are only just in the play off positions, PSG are out as it stands. Only three teams not got a point.

Jimmy Soul Clark theory, not sure there is any fact behind it, more a belief rather than evidence based. I think if it was him someone would have known?

I think that is Richard Searling’s belief?
  6. West Midlands I think
  7. I guess it was down to cost? I don't know tbh. They are still good records regardless how they were done, I don't like them all but two are particularly good. Label name, dunno?
  8. But back to my original point, until it was said AI was used everyone was saying many wonderful things about the records, including how soulful they were.

As far as I am aware all who can or could be traced and asked have been asked. No one seems to know anything about him. Tis a proper mystery.
  10. Most I bet are stolen by those delivering them. It doesn't help with the poor pay the delivery folk get and the time given for a huge amount of deliveries. Leaving them on doorstep etc. They should be handed over to the buyer or taken back unless specific instructions given. Just leaving them on the doorstep for all to see is crazy.
  11. Before these records were revealed to be using AI everyone was saying how great they were, not one person said that AI had been used because not one person could tell. I knew they were recent recordings, and as pointed out to me by a mate using lyrics that wouldn't necessarily be used back in say the 60s or 70s. whilst I agreemtom a certain extent, almost every soul record begins life with the writer of said record, the vocalist simply interprets what the writer wants expressing. That is exactly were these records started life, they weren't written using AI, they were written by the composer for his partner and based on life's experiences.
  12. This weeks show with Gavin, Ross and Brian from Edinburgh’s La Beat Soul Club
  13. It’s a shame it does exist, a waste of good vinyl 😂😜
  14. Revival? They continually talk as though it went away and these few clubs brought it back to life again 🙄
  15. She is definitely not Petula Clark under another name.
  16. I’ve asked David Bupp what is happening with the documentary.
  17. That's my guess too especially as the second release one Mintz was very early in 1970. My guess with there being two presses it did well locally and they wanted to strike whilst the iron was hot with his second 45.
  18. The credits and info on the labels is the same for both releases.
  19. We don't know that really. The first wasn't mastered until 8th Oct so a month later in the mags would fit. The Blues So Bad side is maybe the one the promotion guys were pushing round the stations. There is nothing on either press to really denote A or B side.
  20. So it was getting some action and mentions late 1969, probably enough to warrant the second press.
  21. His second release was copyrighted Jan 1970 so not long between the releases. The first maybe sold well enough to warrant a second press in between releases.
  22. Chalky reviewed Eddiefoster's review on an event in Soul Nights

Love this small club but everything else about it smack of a niter, the crowd, the music the Djs, fantastic. Angie and myself had a great night although I didn't think we'd make it after exhaust troubles on the way. AA soon on the scene, took the back box off and said on yer way All in about 30 minutes. We arrived to a full house which is often the case here. Missed my mate Simon because of said car troubles but there was a packed dance floor to Bob Hinsley and Robbo. So good to see Bob playing some records in a venue again and I hope it's not too long till he does it again. All the Dj's did the business, even had myself on the floor a few times. Baz Maleady doing what he does best, Matt bringing that hard edged niter sound to the Ukrainian and Chris Penn rounding the night off with some big hitters. Was great to catch up with so many., some I've not seen for ages, sat on the stage and had a good chat with Dave Evison who still seems as enthusiastic as ever. Great night, see you next month.
  23. Records recorded and mastered at Virtue often used the date for the catalogue number, as do the Uplook releases. Probable they were recorded and mastered at virtue, the metal work done at Tracy Val, pressed at Superior.....just a guess.
  24. any sign of Virtue in the run out as the second press info on discogs suggests Virtue is in the run out. TVC is the mastering company, they who made the stampers and who often used Superior Pressing plant located next door to them.
