  1. No it isn't, same record yes but totally different take of it, no where near as good.
  2. https://testpressing.wordpress.com/2009/06/17/more-cutting-room-heroes/ Plenty of other links to Ron and the NSC if you google NSC.
  3. Blue Tit on our table tonight....
  4. Marv Johnson? https://www.dftmc.info/titles/tl-02.htm
  5. Old Rob Marriott spin. It is Johnnie Taylor. Joanne is a bootleg.
  6. nope forget that, not the one.....
  7. There is also the straight 60's take that was on the CD Chris King did, slower and a different lead, Freddie Gorman possibly? I couldn't see a clip on YT.
  8. Not a lot of difference really, like I said I doubt most would tell in the middle of an all-nighter.
  9. It's preferred by me. I didn't realise there was a preferred one, doubt many would realise which was which when the needle hits the disc at 3am.
  10. I think this is the original version played on this scene, the one that came from Robb, hopefully he will confirm.
  11. https://www.news-record.com/life/article_363be032-dc4b-11e3-86e7-001a4bcf6878.html Interesting article about Pearlean Gray, the link first brought to my attention via the Southern Soul Mailing List but thought it was worth sharing.
  12. The nearest the scene has come to having a focal point in recent years was with Sheridan's. Quality night every week with various clubs involved, Lifeline, Soultown, Joe Dutton with the R&B club plus various soul nights at the time. Now the scene is f*cked with too many self centred promoters, too many events clashing with no thought what so ever for what is already there.
  13. No it will never happen again. To many promoters with their own agendas and couldn't care less about the bigger picture or the future of the scene.
  14. Some seem to be acting 5 years old
  15. I can't believe this is even being discussed?
  16. Other way round Win, Butch first as well as Jesse James "it's Alright". Butch covered his take of WOH as The Sherry's.
  17. Oddfellows was Feb 1982 to 85/86 I think? The club continued though and even had the odd anniversary back at Oddfellows.
  18. Guy also ran Tony's from 1987 to 1990 or early 1991, I would have to get the echoes out at the weekend.
  19. No sorry. Andy Rix might be able to add more or correct anything I said that isn't correct.
  20. This is Richards I think. It is one one JM auctioned, not sure if it went to Gary Fields at one time?
  21. That one I am sure is the same as the one Robb K recorded that was first played here. The other similar version is the one RS has I think, i'd have to listen and compare but that could also be the speeded up version that was booted. Then there is the one Chris King put on CD with different lead and slower.
  22. I have to agree with you Pete, few years ago you could get it for £125, I saw it sold for that, Andy Dyson sold it for that at the Wilton. Then couple of years ago it was reactivated by a few, Butch being one and the demand and price shot up. It might be tough to get a copy now but that is simply because people aren't selling, few years ago very few were interested in it.
  23. It has fetched 400 odd and Kev Roberts offered 750 for one which is crazy. It wasn't that long ago it was less than 200 but every man and his dog wants it now.......
  24. There is a scan on here and tht is the one Searling has or had, it isn't the take played during the 80's. I doubt were was one track and then played with a little as the takes are so different, one is even a different lead, one has wah wah guitar or something like with a early 70's feel about it.
  25. The fast version is a recording of the slow one on a dodgy tape recorder.
