  1. Who is John Thompson?
  2. Came out on two labels if memory serves me right, shell and ? Covered up by Andy Dyson once upon a time, been around years though.

143 and 152, different takes. Both great though, one of the best northern records ever for me and cheap!

The two issues on Calla are different mixes/takes. As far as I was aware the other different take belongs to Butch, he has the studio acetate which has male backing.
  5. I'd sooner have a choo choo off Miss Collins
  6. Just jesting Ted although to be fair it doesn't do a lot or me but can see the appeal to others.
  7. You want taxing for playing this
  8. I think it's a better record as well. But the mainstream crowd still don't know it really, shame.
  9. Des Parkers "Judy Street" cover up originally.
  10. I presume the one Keb had was the one Dave/Rod had? It was played at Lifeline to a busy floor last month. Great record everything a northern DJ could want in a record IMO.
  11. William Cummings, Butch says it was a £4 rarity on Soul Bowl in 1974 then £1 special in 1975 when he and Tim got copies, it's on here somewhere. Like you say though, Pete don't think it was played till years later from what I could find out.
  12. I found a company that converted reel to reel to cd for you, cost about £40 for an hours worth of material.
  13. Would be nice to see those tape listing s Cliff, especially if from around 82/83/84
  14. I had the issue (well I'm 99.9% certain) in the late 80's early 90's with the spoken intro. Always thought the way to tell is with the numbers above and not issue/demo.

Top of the page there should be a subscribe to itunes box, on the right. Just tested here and the play works and the download works as well.

Click on the link to my website, then go to the podcasts page and then look for the gospel according to Andy Dyson, it is I'm sure amongst that podcast, both sides.
  18. When vinyl discs were pressed and the excess trimmed, the excess was re-ground and reused on further 45's. because it wasn't virgin vinyl if would often get things like air trapped in it and this would give the 45 background noise. One of the reasons a record might look mint but doesn't play mint. Many styrene might look mint but could have cue burn or the quality has deteriorated as styrene does. As others said if there is a difference in play and visual then state this.
  19. I would imagine any venue with an irresistible thirst for newies will play some turkey's. I can't think of one leading trend setting venue of this scene that didn't. You get good and bad in everything in life but the good more often than not out weighs the bad.

Covered up by Butch mid to later 80's, forget off top of my head what it was covered as. Andy Dyson and Mick H also have copies and "Look At You" current big sound again, well both sides really.

  22. The last one through my door was a cd from Kent, the Complete Eddie Holland.
  23. Part four of the days Radio. Ady Croasdell and then he is followed by the Banks and Bicknell Roadshow. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/great-yarmouth-weekender-radio-20-10-90-part-3-ady-croasdell-banks-bicknell/
  24. I've had contact with Chris via e-mail. He pretty much didn't have much to add that wasn't already said by Harpo playlist like, he actually said his memory not up to much ask Harpo I've got enough to do what I want to do anyway and it was good to see someone get some recognition. Thanks to everyone.
