  1. More live Stafford action for you. Guy sent me this tape last week. It is from 26th May 1985. Guy, Keb and dave Thorley in action. https://www.mixcloud.com/Chalkster/stafford-top-of-the-world-26th-may-1985-guy-keb-and-dave-thorley/
  2. I've just got a series of photos from Neil Salter of the Stafford day, some amazing shots. Just working out the best way to show them off??
  3. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Had one myself briefly in the 80's, traded it on, I was disillusioned at times, well I was summat
  4. If Boy of My Dreams has "Stevie" on the fIip it definately exists. John Manship auctioned one and another in a collection in the states.
  5. No tape Tony. Guy is going to look if he has it.
  6. Arin Demain is Chuck Hampton
  7. Robert Bateman is Vidalia, an acetate I think. Phil Terrell is Tha Jaggers, a version of the Commands "No time for you", also an acetate. Billy Sharae, Melba Marshall and the Maskmen are the ones I'm struggling with.
  8. I have a list from Butch himself of what he played upstairs at the last Stafford and the Mello Souls definately on it. It was also played at the other Stafford, the working men's club, deffo before Blackburn. Anyway check your PMs Steve and tell me those cover ups.
  9. All images and works are copyrighted and where possible permission sought to use. As far as I'm aware Rob copyright is attached as soon as the photo is taken, or any other work laid down by whatever method. Neither do you need to register it, just prove it is yours.
  10. It would take more than that to embarrass me. I'm hardly bootlegging it for profit or even trade on so not quite what we are discussing here is it? If Mr Bradley has a problem I'm sure he will be in touch.
  11. Yep that'll be me, dunno why he has to be so coy by just using forum staff, doesn't bother me if he uses my name.
  12. The opportunity is here to put the record straight about the last 30 years. Some great DJ's who between them discovered some fantastic music over that period. Many dealers still had an influence during this time so not all about the DJ. I think most arguments are based on who and what you grew up with?
  13. May well have been Pat as well as Guy. I have it down as Guy's "Don Adams - I'm glad you gave me one more chance" cover up from 1984.
  14. To be fair Steve is making use of the article feature and has put together a decent argument for his selection that was also good reading. Others could do the same and put together a similar reply or simply read something else.
  15. Knew he'd been il for sometime reading some of the posts on Soulful Detroit. Sad news for one of the legends of our music. R.I.P. Bob Babbitt.
  16. Yes we do, haven't used it myself but pretty sure Cliff has. Why waste 25 quid or whatever it is now on a dub when the original release of said cut is probably a cd? This isn't about former DJ's playing classics burnt to cd so lets not go there again, we are talking about genuine cd releases, even if it is originally alongside a vinyl release. Sharon Jones I have most of her stuff, mainly on download as that suits my listening method fo many newer releases, on the ipod, I've no intention of playing her stuff out. But i wouldn't have any qualms playing her cd out if it suited or any other artist that had a cd release alongside a vinyl release.
  17. I'm only replying to what you said and I'm more than happy to say no more. As has been said by more than just me, play either the cd or LP of Sharon Jones
  18. So because this isn't cd only, it can't be played even though it was released on cd alongside the vinyl copy and is just as legitimate? No wonder kids don't want to be involved in this side of the soul scene!
  19. So this cd even though it is an origianl format can't be played simply because a vinyl format was released at the same time. Im not going round and round, you are. You asked a queton and didnt like the answer you got so you turn it into another OVO debate. It's not even a Northern Soul Record....i mean its not as though it is a 60's release is it, it's a 2007 release. This scene is disappearing further and further up its own arse. If you don't want to play it then don't simple as that.
  20. Gazza do we have to take it down the OVO/cd route again, how many topic s do we want about this. You asked a question and got an answer. The cd is as far as I can tell as original as the vinyl release. I'm not advocating the playing of various artist compilations CDs, far from it. But if an artist releases new material via the cd format what is wrong with playing that?
  21. From what I can see there is only you that brought the arguement up about OVO and the boring soul police comment. If you've no wish to engage in this then why ask the question and then begin to mention OVO over more than one post? Just play the cd or LP. The LP is often the original format with 45 releases taken from the LP. I have no issue whatsoever about playing a track off an LP if it is cheaper than he 45, Luther being one example.
  22. Fro,m the interview on Dave Rimmer's Soulfulkindamusic... The Albanians came to be covered up basically when me, Tim, Claire obviously Margaret and a guy from Clitheroe and old mate of mine and his mate Sag, Brian and his mate cycled over to Corfu and we had arranged to meet (we were on holiday there) and on his way cycled through Benitsit you came to the little resort where me, Margaret Tim end Claire were. He was cycling through this town and who should he see wandering about in the middle of the road( I think as this story goes) with terrorist balaclavas on at about 3 o'clock on an extremely hot midsummer's afternoon in Corfu but Gaz Kellet under the influence, possibly of beer, I don't know, which he couldn't believe because he nearly knocked him over, then when Brian told us who he had seen we actually took off one day down that coast line to try and find out where they were stopping and we got to a place called Khyser Bridge which basically is a place which is over looking and 10 mile across the water from Albania and there behind a hedge just on the aide of the road jud off the coast on the sea line there, who should we see all creeping about kind of thing terrorist style, but some of the Preston Cybermen as they were later to be known, all wearing terrorist type balaclavas from some reason, (never got to the bottom of that) and some of them wearing foreign legion type headgear as well and they me all on holiday and after a day spent with them hence the cover up of the Albanians. Bernie Golding went there as well, Gordon from Preston, they were the lads on tour definitely.
  23. Do you know, I knew that I've just kicked myself Des.
  24. Neither of those is Melba Marshall, Guy said he wouldn't have played Barbara Middleton even though had it back then. Maskmen, any ideas Mr Flynnster?
  25. I'm good thanks, likewise I trust. You will probably get the same as Boba.
