  1. Are they actually acetates Pete, lacquer over metal middle and would they have done 100's of these for each?? I'm talking about the obscure acetates cut in the studio during the session and then filed by the company. Usually just the one or two for each take as far as I was aware.
  2. Dunno, they might think it is illegal to sell a record with "not for sale" on it? The scan I posted went really cheap as well so if an original someone got a bargain.
  3. £5.99 for a new discovery Anyway in answer to your question, no.
  4. Many acetates are different takes. Are you saying 100's of acetates of one track? I doubt that, not a studio acetate anyway, usually just two or three, depending on how many takes they did to cut the record. As for wearing out, I know of acetates that have been played for over 20 years and still haven't worn out.
  5. Butch has already been mentioned so wan't referring to him. Carl Fortnum has one too unless he sold it.
  6. Not sure about the third other ebay one you are talking about but know of at least two other DJ's with a copy.
  7. thought I'd seen a vinyl boot with the lines as well....maybe not then.
  8. either same as or like this one....
  9. isn't there a boot of the white one with lines, vinyl.
  10. I once sold the Washpan look-a-like for about £50, might have been a bit more. The buyer said he would have gone to £200. Buy the Grapevine copy, cheap and legit.
  11. It was Jim, covered as Pat Lewis I think.
  12. There's three Russ, two white labels, black lettering and red lettering and black label with silver lettering.
  13. Some info about LT at https://www.freewebs.com/butahbeats/tyronethomas.htm
  14. I've heard some great sets done on a budget and I'd sooner hear sets like this, put together with some though and imagination rather than a set of trophy records in a hot box.
  15. you do talk out of your arse at times
  16. who knows nothing and how do you come to that conclusion?
  17. Just looked through popsike, could've imagine the white one, there's the grey one and the white one, Tribe down the right, large Indian figure, but neither seem to say demo?
  18. Looks like four demo's then.... Three Orange... Tribe across top, no Indian figure. Tribe across top, with smaller Indian figure. Larger Indian figure with Tribe down right hand side Then white demo Larger Indian figure with Tribe down the right hand side.
  19. There's is an orange demo with Tribe across the top no Indian head. There is same orange demo with Tribe across the top with small Indian head under it. There is white demo with Indian and Tribe down top right.
  20. I read Juggy sold his masters/rights to Sue to UA in 1968. Would Symbol, J-2 be part of the deal?
  21. I've read on all music that it was the Poets first release and it preceded the symbol release but like you it sounds later to me.
  22. I can't remember breakfast somedays but yeah I'd say early 90's Bradford QH and other such nighters. Could have been before but can't remember it.
  23. a scan of the Poets from Popsike....
  24. Its been awhile since the last one but I have been busy chasing the DJ's to put together these podcasts and make them as accurate as possible. I finally managed to corner Ady and together with a little help from others we've managed to come up with one and a half hours of what Ady played back in the early days of Stafford. Totally across the board as you would expect, some late Yate spins, few Wigan "oldies" and Stafford newies in the mix. https://www.soulunderground.co.uk/StaffordTOTW/ Allan Sisters - I'm In With The Downtown Crowd - Quality Soulettes - Bring Your Fine Self Home - Scope Norma Jenkins & The Dolls - The Airplane Song - Maltese Inticers - Since You Left - Baby Luv Inspirations - No One Can Take Your Place - Midas Detroit Soul - All Of My Life - Music Town The Group featuring Cecil Washington - I Don't Like To Lose - Prophonics Eddie Parker - I Love You Baby - Ashford Chuck Holiday - Just Can't Trust Nobody - Gloria Major IV - I Don't Believe In Losing - Venture Charles Johnson - Never Had A Love So Good - Alston Alfie Davison - Love Is A Serious Business - Mercury 12" GQ - Make My Dream A Reality - Arista Felix Cavaliere - Never Felt Love Before - Bearsville Ed Summers - I Can tell - Soya Dee Dee Sharp - Happy Bout The Whole Thing - TSOP Patterson Twins - Gonna Find A True Love - Commercial Solid Gold Revue featuring Roy Crumley - She's So Good - Castanet Eldridge Holmes - Gone Gone Gone - Deesu The Larks - Come Back Baby - Money Gene Chandler - I Hate To be The One To Say - Constellation Matt lucas - You Better Go Go - Karen Nomads - Somethings Bad - Mo Groove Smokey Robinson - I Care About Detroit - Standard Groove/Tamla Margie Joseph - One More Chance - Volt Fabulous Apollos - The One Alone - Valtone Willie Mallory - You Went Back (On What You Said) - Lanor The Hytones - Bigger And Better - Abet Chuck Holiday - I Still Love You - Gloria Bobby Kline - Say Something Nice To Me - MB Records Kenny Young - Ain't It Funny What Love Can Do - Share Adam will be the focus of the next set of podcasts, enough material to compile three podcasts and the majority of it will be Modern Soul from back in the day.
