  1. Can be tough to find at times, £150 now maybe?
  2. It got more like a cattle market Dave than a soul weekender. It also got too matey and arenas playing the same as other arenas.
  3. There's another version by Benny Curtis with the Gene Mason Sextet (Benny Curtis same guy) on Bridges. Bit more jazzy rather than the dancer Benny C Oliver is. Been playing the Benny C Oliver out lately. Guy covered it up as Ray Agee.
  4. Benny C Oliver and the Mellow Fellows - Make It now - Ojobco
  5. There was too much emphasis on money and getting in as many as possible the longer it went on. The first few were great, the first two as Mike says superb. But even the gloss was taken off the acts with poor sound and singing one record three times rather than do a half a dozen record set. I remember Baby Washington, you couldn't hear her, terrible for such a great artist. Had some great weekends there, especially the Thursdays early years watching the artists rehearse. With the acts they had on they wasted a great chance to have a superb showcase but IMO it was wasted. The music went downhill too, another nail in the coffin as far as I was concerned.
  6. Two topics regarding the promoting and the selling of your collection merged. I make this three topics now plus the sales topics.
  7. Here's the shorter take which fades out on the held note. https://soundcloud.com/chalkster/moments-you-said-deep
  8. The Herbert Hunter if it has Bill Purcell on the flip is clearly a boot and it's not a recent one either. Another boot has a Monarch stamp. The original has a Nashville Matrix stamp. Billy Woods clearly a boot.
  9. The backing singers sing "You said you love me" (or thats what it sounds like to my lug oles) after she stops holding that note at the end, about 12 seconds or so longer, mentioned it earlier. The other one I know the record fades on the held note, or as soon as she stops holding the note. Late Yate early Stafford "Sweethearts" cover up for Dave Thorley.
  10. I thought there was two takes? One where she holds the note and the record fades out as she does. The other she holds the note yet when she stops the backing carry on with "You Said You Love Me"for another 15 seconds or so. Other than that they sounded the same to me as well.
  11. Pete Smith had a Jewel a while back. Certainly seen a couple lately.
  12. It's only been a working week and the buyer could be away all week. Give him a few more days and then it is up to you what to do.
  13. Hi Dave. I remember you telling me the story years ago via email but it got lost over time. Good to get the first hand account again. ATB Chalky
  14. If you feel you have waited long enough simply return the money and relist the records. I can't see what the problem is to be honest.
  15. more in a topic from a few weeks ago here
  16. good selection of should type carry bags here.... https://www.mirage2000records.co.uk/acatalog/RecordBags.html
  17. All the off topic removed.
  18. Topic requesting an MP3 removed as per site rules.
  19. I've split the Crash and Renee labels and the talk about those labels into their own topics, they will simply get lost otherwise. Can I ask if going to talk about klabels or a family of labels to start a specific topic. Makes life much easier. Ill ask Roger to archive them sometime inthe future for safe keeping and ease of search.
  20. Not sure without looking Derek, will do so later when I get the chance. For the other listings you've posted if ok with you I'll split them and give em their own topic.
  21. Don't thank me, thank Thom.
  22. Thom recently joined the site. He actually played guitar in Jimmy's backing band and also other session in Detroit and with members of the Funk Brothers. He posted this great unissued track of Jimmy Delph's but as mp3's are not allowed it had to be removed but I've added it via Soundcloud for your listening pleasure. Thanks Thom. https://soundcloud.com/chalkster/jimmy-delphs-our-last-goodbye
  23. I seem to have missed number two somehow Anyway I've download two and three and will listen next week when I get them on the iPod unless I get the chance earlier. Sounds like Ian is using the same researcher he used in podcast number one.
  24. Mp3 removed as per site rules etc etc. I will replace it with a soundfile using soundcloud just as soon as I can get to my desktop so please be patient.
