  1. Wasn't Tommy and the Derby's was it, Ordinary Girl is featured a fair bit in the lyrics, was covered up as that.
  2. It might be best if I split all the UK scene posts into another topic?
  3. It doesn't do any harm but there must be 100's of oldies/newies topics. I'm at a loss to see how a listing on ebay turned into another topic discussing the merits of oldies and newies and what people get unto in their social life? This topic hasn't gone a "little off topic", its way off. No one has stopped you or anyone else starting a topic, I certainly haven't.
  4. Have you counted how many odd weekenders there are? I counted over thirty not so long ago for this year. How do we get from talking about a record collection on ebay to another oldies newies topic?
  5. Bit late on this one, just downloaded Cliff, thats my monday morning listening sorted.
  6. nice one Bob, just goes to show that it is a never ending job this collecting lark and no matter what we think we know there is always more.

  13. recent topic here.......
  14. Must be some desperate buyers out there.....or clueless? What I find amazing is people are still surprised at the sales?
  15. Listened to it all, some good some bad, started off bad IMO and some poppy stuff that werent to my liking but overall it weren't too bad a three hour listen, certainly heard worse. Some good crossover and 70's in the set As said nothing unknown to speak off. Dunno where he gets his info but Ian ought to ask someone else, Gracie Dumas....unknown? It's not the type of stuff that all-nighter goers want either so not sure how it will go down at the 100 Club?
  16. A record like this shouldn't need any marketing, it is as rare as they come and a great record too.
  17. I couldn't see a download link whilst playing a bit of one
  18. Nice one Steve, look forward to listening. Can you download them?

  21. Yes, I'm asking everyone to knock the insults on the head. Whatever we might think of someone we have a house rule not to insult other members, that's the same for Nick, You and myself. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/soul-news/forum-house-rules-r1879 If anyone has a problem with a post of another member hit the report button and we will deal with it, we don't always see everything.

When Don Gardner first came over here he went to dinner with Andy Dyson, Mick H and myself. He was shown Cheating Kind for the first time, he had never seen it before and he told us it was released without his knowledge. We also asked Don if Shep was indeed him and we showed him a copy of e record. He said it wasn't him, that I remember as clear as day. However, he later changed his mind and said it was him, probably after listening to "I'm Sitting In" and thinking "well it does sound like me". I'm with Matt in that on side could be him and th either doesn't sound much like him at all. As Bob says many artists can't remember much at all and many were unaware what was happening to their recordings some of the time, Ray Agee on Soultown and Don Gardner highlight that fact.
  23. can we knock the insults on the head please. That means everyone.
  24. I've noticed Kung Fu slippers are around again. See kids in them all over.
