Stoke provides the second guest in tow weeks with the return two the studio of Tim Ashibende. Not many can match Tim's contribution to the scene or indeed his knowledge. Tune in for a cracking show.

Wigan Casino Dance Competition Winners by year
First one (1974) was won by Steve Caesar with Kim (Gethro's GF) second and Gethro third. Steve has posted a photo elsewhere in the past receiving his £50 prize money with Kim and Gethro to his right.

JMAuction - 09/08/2023 - Results!
I'm not saying it never got plays, just never any sustained. It was more a tape swapper sound for me. I love there record though.

Dean Anderson's Sound of Soul, Thursday 8pm.
Another mighty fine guest in the studio, travelling over from that Soul Music stronghold in the Potteries we have James Elliott, a man of impeccable taste.

Masquaders on Soul Town - reasonable price?
Popsike isn't really a true reflection of either prices or sales history, this 45 has been sold by other means, other auctions and private sales. One sold in a Facebook group just last month for £1350 in vg++ condition. 1500 seems about right.

Joan Baker - everybody's talking (diamond)
Most of the unissued weee acetates, odd cut from Kent I think. Real names most of them but I’d have to check to be sure. Tempos was the Debonaires on Soul Click

Joan Baker - everybody's talking (diamond)
It was definitely before 88, he had JD Bryant in 86 and as said was playing Joan Baker in 85. He retired from Northern in 87 so sold up by 88. Play list from 1986

Northern Soul Dance Teachers
Its Northern Soul dancing by numbers, 1,2,3,4 kick,1,2,3,4 spin etc. It was the individualism and competition if you like that made the scene so cool and energetic and the dancing the envy of many. The majority of the time the kicks and spins are not in keeping with the beat, just spinning kicking and dropping for the sake of it. They do not get it and never will.

Joan Baker - everybody's talking (diamond)
Think Jimmy sold Keb a spare as it was in 85 when Keb was playing it at Stafford

Joan Baker - everybody's talking (diamond)
Joan Smith her real name. Comments in this video

Shawn Robinson - My Dear Heart
Someone has obviously entered the wrong info on discogs, regular thing on there. She gets a mention in Billboard Dec 1966 according to a post on 45cat so likely recorded and released the same month given the next 45, Jimmy Holiday was Jan 67.

Fascinating Facts No 1 - Lester Tipton
Yes murdered in the early 80s during a break in at his LA home. Think he’d jacked the music biz and gone hairdressing I seem to remember reading.
