  1. Kell Osborne - You Can't Outsmart A Woman - Loma
  2. The gay bar was below the Conservative Club I think, down a side street near the County Hotel on Saltergate. Jarvis Ellis, knew his brother who did the doors in Chesterfield. Was talking to Will Palmer other day and Jarvis name cropped up, he's still about places in town. I've been Blessed, I used to spin at that time, red vinyl it was too.
  3. Got to agree Keith, even the top notch ones aren't that great. Prestatyn for instance is a sh*t hole, is there any wonder nobody wants to take the family there? You've got to be off your head to stop in some of those chalets, especially the cheaper ones.
  4. Kell Osbourne - Small Things - New Bag Clever, fantastic record.
  5. kell Osborne - quicksand - titanic Massive in the 80's. The flip has had plays in later years. kell osborne - lonely boy song - titanic The backing track and backing vocals were laid down elsewhere, Kell simply went into a studio a laid down his vocals.
  6. Tastes change as people mature, we cringe at some of the stuff that was big way back in the day. A lot of stuff was simply over looked because of the volume of soul/northern soul that was out there back in say the 70's. DJ's could afford to be pickier and ignore stuff.
  7. Kell Osborne - Something for the books - Cenco & Revis Now this was also release on Revis by Billy Revis, Kell's at the time best mate. It was also released on Rayco but Billy Revis changed Kell's name to Ozzie, this was while Kell was serving in the forces.
  8. Kell Osborne - Bells Of St Marys - Trey Early Phil Specter. Later recorded by Bobby Sheen , Bobby B Soxx & Blue Jean, a more up-tempo version though.
  9. who says they are all out of soul bowl packs Have you been to places like Lifeline? Plenty of other venues trying to introduce newer discoveries that are quality and not ex soul pack stuff, IMHO! Another oldies vs. newies topic on it's way

Music sharing and illegal downloading is not encouraged on Soul Source.
  11. Your right he was top man, he enjoyed the nights as much as anyone. He must have been granddad, wasn't there dad I don't think, spent many a time at Grahams.

can't remember, sold mine in mid 90's. The sound file above is I think taken from my old copy.
  13. Lucy actually gave a good talk IMO. Her paper was based on research and what you see is the research, actual comments from soulies etc.

It would have been Pat Brady that played it back then btw.
  15. The last one I actually saw sell in the flesh was I think £2k.

great stuff Eddie, will help any way I can Memory not what it used to be though
  18. I've an old list of Andy Dyson's from 1993 with Billy Hambric on at £15. Eddie Whitehead for a fraction of what it is now worth late 80's at 100 Club. Didn't have enough on me and seller wouldn't take deposit etc etc. Can't remember who was selling it.
  19. thanks Gary Mate, and Dave Abbott, al sorted now
  20. Bub was one of the greatest characters, always had a smile on his face regardless how he felt inside. Always had a joke and a funny story. He was funnier than most comedians, certainly today's lot. Tuesday nights at tracky were great nights with Bub holding court having us all in stitches for the whole night. R.I.P.
  21. Yep deffo add Ozzie to the list, was just a quick reply from me earlier in the day in-between work things. Nighters don't seem the same without any of those I mentioned
  22. What you say about Stan is how I would describe a "character" naughty but often in a funny/good sort of way. I haven't seen Craig since Tracky Club days I don't think. As you say Neil is still out and about, was at Lifeline t'other week.
  23. I'd agree with Joan and say it was quite good and pretty interesting. It was by no means an attempt for an outsider so to speak to rewrite the history books as far as Northern Soul is concerned. It was simply to get something academic onto the books as there is virtually nothing academic as far as NS is concerned, plenty about other dance/music scenes. The first professor is actuall into NS, been going since the 70's and still goes occasionally, dj'ed in the past too. The second her parents are/were into it, from the North East, and knows Col Denham, Gas Simon etc. Attended many venues during her research including Piercebridge where both Joan and myself went and Dj'ed at. Lucy has been on SS for some years and gave in my and others opinion a very good talk. The US professor is a R&B fan, his father a close friend of I think Jerry Wexler, grew up with the music and has worked in the biz. They valued the feedback and Q&A extremely and were very happy with it all. Think more are planned. Someone video'ed it, I am waiting for the URL to the video so all can see for themselves. Lucy said she would share her paper and asked one of the others but she needs to get permission as it is being published. I did record it on my iphone, quality not too bad, if all say ok I can share if the video doesn't appear.
  24. Get your facts right Ian and stop the shit stirring. I don't recall saying anywhere I didn't know who was selling. But as it happens I did not know who Randy was and the topic was signed simply Paul, now how many Paul's are there on the scene? It wasn't until Paul PM'ed me that I knew who it was. I only asked to see the scan as I'd never seen an issue, I don't recall seeing one in Dave Moore's mag either. It wasn't just me many other people have never seen one either. I why the soul police crap? And I also remember you in the past questioning a seller on ebay cause of the lack of feedback...pot kettle and black spring to mind. Are you Paul's spokesman? If not sod off and stop stirring things, sure Paul will speak for himself when he gets home from work.
  25. I would have sent it to JM.
