I was gonna say one scene is about the music and the other about scooters albeit with a bit of northern in the mix.

I think the first one is in print, the second two aren't. In was more than happy with the R&B Indies despite some missing, some errors, obvious to some but not others. I would assume this will be just as comprehensive despite the omissions and errors stated. You can contact the editor through the site, its the same one he uses to send any mails to me and others.
  9. price guides are just that a guide, they are not gospel. The guide was done before a few hundred surfaced via e-bay, which he apparently knows about. But even if he didn't know maybe a quiet word via Pm would suffice to highlight that he is offering something in pounds what can be had in dollars on ebay?
  10. I would agree with the comments already posted but I dunno if I would have said anything to be honest. I did read it before any comments were made. As said it is opening a can of worms. I do think he was wide of the mark with his valuation. He does state he had expenses but that doesn't come into the price of a record really, we have all taken losses on records we spent a few bob on only for the value to drop as copies surface.
  11. as a general rule I say no comment but in the odd case a comment could be valid. Such cases could be if a price is wide of the mark by a fair bit or someone extracting the urine.

Did what get a release? Can't see what you are talking about when you don't include what you are talking about in the topic title or the post when viewing on a mobile device like the iPhone.

Hi Greg, Here is what Bob has to say in reply to your question...
  19. You are right Sean it does describe a period in time but I think it also had it's own style, often mid tempo in style and records that were generally unacceptable to the northern scene or the modern scene, records rejected by both because more often than not the tempo as well as the style wasn't right. Today the term is nothing like the term when it was first coined. Too many dealers simply use it to sell records they wouldn't normally be able to shift simply because crossover is "trendy" or "in". Records like Ruby Andrews are simply Northern or just soul, they weren't crossover when the term first came into being. Anyway prefer your term, Just Soul, good or bad!!!
  20. Try this one on my blog Russ... https://chalkster101.wordpress.com/a-lifeline-of-soul/ link at the top of the page.

Not 100% but think Andy Dyson sold ex+ ish one for around 1200 couple of years or so ago. Seen one more recently for less than a grand. Most that do turn up though are vg+ at best. The flip is pretty good too.

Is any book 100% accurate, especially something on this scale? And many garage records have an appeal to soul collectors. You could offer your services and proof read for errors, think they are still tinkering with volumes 2 & 3.

A lot. Not really heard it out for a while, Andy Dyson used to play it a bit, Mick H also if I remember rightly.

Butch the DJ. Droyslden, some good nights there. Someone remind me what the last track is, uses same backing as Mel Williams.
