Soul Survivor - Sir Lattimore Brown (frontpage)
Soul Survivor - Sir Lattimore Brown Back From The Dead! If anyone is entitled to a pain in the heart it is Sir Lattimore. Born to beginnings we cannot comprehend in 1931 and growing up with practically nothing. But from these humble beginnings he was introduced to music, the music of the cotton fields and gospel from the church. Whilst serving in the Army in Korea, Lattimore was listening to acts such as King Cole Trio and Big Joe Turner and listening to these acts taught him a unique combination of R&B shouting and smooth vocal phrasing that he would carry on into his later work, work that would make him a veteran of the Chitlin Circuit working with some of the biggest names of the time. Upon settling down in later life, hoping to see out his... Weird Ric-Tic Label
I would agree they were done in the US at the time of release. Tony states as much in the other topic (one of them).

Weird Ric-Tic Label
The above is a quote from Tony Rounce in one of the previous topics about this and like Tone I've no reason to disbelieve the Ric Tic obsesive who sits directly behind him at work, I'd put what he says before any other theory put forward.

Well Done Kenny Burrell
A quick search would probably have found you plenty of reading on this subject in the numerous topics about this record, would have saved all the negatives.

Children At Allnighters
Are venues and promoters covered under the child protection act or whatever it is? I know in sport anyone involved with kids has to have checks done at about £30 a time. I don't think all-nighters with everything that is associated with them should be a place for kids.

Children At Allnighters
I can remember about ten years or so ago when Alfreton was going strong again the place was full of them...well when I say full roundabout 20 or so. Think Ian who ran it finished up banning them after a lot of complaints, quite rightly so. see some at niters today and some can't be over 12.....in their vests and bags too

Tempos - I'll Never Forget You
Think the last one I saw was for about £700 in a deal, cash/trades. Think one before was £600 cash, can't quite remember. JM books it at £1k and like Rod I think that's a bit hopeful, but who knows? Magic record but like Dave said don't think that many punters really know it. Andy Dyson has been playing it on and off for last couple years or so.

I'd Like To Order A Record Please
In any business in any walk of life you make an enquiry, you get a reply, you thank the person who replied with I'll get back to you etc etc. Its common courtesy.

I'd Like To Order A Record Please
I've stopped responding to wants Greg unless I know and trust those asking. I used to reply with yes and for instance a cheap £75. Then a reply would come back with oh only looking to spend £25. If not serious about a want and willing to pay the going rate or thereabouts then they shouldn't bother in the first place

I'd Like To Order A Record Please
I agree and if the seller had the decency to respond then you could at least have the courtesy to respond again with a quick and simple "thanks".

I'd Like To Order A Record Please
I do agree that many sales are made when the list is fresh but I don't think the sales list does get lost, those interested in sales will read them all and go down the list. I know plenty who don't use soul source except for the sales topics. They read them all, they don't read other forums except for the odd occasion and don't post on here. How it works now is fine as far as I'm concerned as it stops the pointless "just giving this a bump" type posts many used to post. They still show on the front page when they are bumped.

I'd Like To Order A Record Please
Why not give those who ask for a record 24 hours (or whatever you stipulate) to respond to the "yes it's yours" reply with either the cash or further instructions or request to hold until they get paid or whatever excuse? State this in your original sales topic and simply follow to the letter. You can put "on hold" in the topic (as some already do) and remove the "on hold" if you don't hear from them within whatever time you stipulate. maybe we should have a separate topic to name and shame, both dealers and buyers or if you feel that strongly you could name and shame on your sales topic, this was bought by such and such and I've not heard from them so relisting?

Having Records Made
Timmion are good, 25 euro I think for two sides. Difference between Timmion and Carvers is Timmion use actual metal acetates, better sound quality than carvers. https://www.timmion.com/cutting

** Musette Records **
Here's edited scans of the Musette test press, You Know How Love Is and Showbusiness. In my opinion got to be June Edwards, you can judge for yourself when refosoul is open again and I can upload the sound files. Many thanks to Chris Morgan for his kind permission to use these.

Holland, Dozier, Holland
I can't believe a topic about Holland Dozier and Holland and the amount of music that is of interest to us that they were behind has generated just 8 replies

Willie Darrington
The Paris had if I remember rightly Steve Mancha on the flip, Did My Baby Call. Can't remember much else about them, thought there was 4 discs at the time. Maybe from different sources but thought Rudzy issued some of them??? Might be wrong, if so apologies.

Willie Darrington
It came out about the same time as the Paris, Johhny Honeycutt. Was Rudzy something to do with them?
