  1. I personally wouldn't use gemm (most on there are over priced, well those I seem to want) or popsike to price a record. I would rather use the price guide I think you are referring to...and have done. I would ask on the forums first, here or Rare Soul Forum. Popsike I would have a look but out of curiosity rather than anything else. I've been toying with the idea of an interactive database where members can edit every section, titles, matrix numbers, writers producers, general info and prices...its just getting round to doing something about it.

Maybe, but dunno if your sales topic would be the place to stand up and criticise your prices though. And feedback is no good if the member can delete negative comments. Its a tough one!

I agree with what you are saying in principal but if someone is daft enough to pay that price without doing 5 minutes homework then some are beyond help. Don't suppose there is nothing to stop you discussing it in Look At Your Box forum.
  4. think we all must have benefited from selling records for what we consider OTT prices at times. But also lost out on what actually paid for a record and what sold so its swigs and roundabouts at time. Some you win some you lose. Popsike can't be used to set a price, most of the prices are often several years old. And like George Lemons is an indemand record so is £2200 in an auction really that much OTT when it could be be listed for say £1500? If two people want something bad enough then to them, like Phil said it is worth it, especially if you can afford it. Like I said earlier, since the early days of collecting people have always paid what can be said to be OTT prices for the top records of the day.
  5. no probs Pete, I saw you ask for it a whilke back, that was when I posted it but you must have missed it. Is the IYCBT instrumental on here?

exactly so why start a topic to knock what someone paid for a record on ebay in another forum?
  7. that's been the case as long as people have been buying records, in particular with auctions. It isn't the first time George Lemons has sold for over £2000 either. If buy it now prices are too high they will not sell and the seller will have to list again at a lower price....simple.

I don't think prices are anything to do with no one but the seller and the buyer, whether we agree with them or not. All that matters regarding a seller is how he conducts his business. The same for the buyer. Any feedback that outs the bad sellers (and buyers) can only improve things. There is already a place to discuss prices "look at your box".
  9. you could always try the Trammps own official website..... https://thetrammps.net/
  10. Hi Dave, I forgot about that, wonder if it made a Kent cd I know it made a Goldmine/Soul Supply cd. Magic record, sort of record you wonder why it got canned when you hear some of the stuff that did make a release.
  11. I remember this and I also recorded it at the time, it is in the garage with the rest of my tapes. You won't find scan for the above two they are unreleased but Chuck carter is a Brunswick recording I believe, some of those who have cut it have used a doctored Brunswick label.Roscoe Shelton unissued SS7.
  12. UNKNOWN - PEANUT DUCK INSTRUMENTAL - UNISSUED VIRTUE RECORDING -

    Surprise Surprise
  14. Most clubs who hire their venue should have this anyway I would have thought?
  15. kin ell £10 to list Pete's 100 records on US and Canada?? Think the odd e-mail about postage costs is worth it considering what you will save, especially if like some you list quite a few records. There's no wonder many not bothering with ebay anymore, seems like they want to milk everything from your sale!!

the cloth ears bit was referring to the Cilla Black bit, I don't hear Cilla in there. I know vocally like said it isn't one of the greatest but as far as Northern goes, like you say one of the best dancers, and at the end of the day dancing is what this scene is essentially all about, taught or not Can remember at the 100 Club, Guy was looking through the records and he dropped everything and dashed for the dance floor when this came on some years ago.
  17. like I said not listed for a long time so not sure. But I would have thought all collectors, dealers etc view and use .com so why bother with .co.uk? or any other ebay site for that matter.
  18. don't get me wrong I'm not in favour myself but I think it is better to ignore stuff like this, no such thing as bad press...so they say!!

I must have cloth ears I got to admit it ain't the greatest vocal/record on earth but it is good northern!!
  20. doesn't ebay do that automatically for you these days..., like I say not listed for ages so not totally sure. I understand what you say about folk not understanding.
  21. Thats what I don't understand Pete, why pay for an option, even though it is only a few pence when you can do it free on .com?
  22. Never thought of that There are enough boots and pressings on .com though, one of reasons I can't really be arsed with ebay these days, trawling through all the crap!!
  23. those people will always be thee Pete, regardless of what you, me or anyone else says. All it takes is 5 minutes research/homework and you can get a realistic price on anything, no need to pay over the odds on anything....unless it is a real obscurity.
  24. Might sound daft but why not simply use .com? save you some money too if it shows everywhere when you ship worldwide??
