Holy Grails of genres?
Limited taste see your talking out of your arse again Trent Sisters isn't even a good dancer, it's all over the place, poor northern in terms of quality IMHO. Far better 20 quid records out there. Personally think too many worry more about the value of a record rather than the quality.

The Four Voices
I think there's a huge difference between local/national release and a re-issue done 30 years later. The Gerri release would be the more desirable with the national following up behind. If a repress of the Rosco Robinson was done 30 years later I doubt I would think twice about, the same same for the Four Voices on gold which I don't even consider collectable, it would have to be the first press (the green one) or nowt with me. I'd sooner spend my 50 quid on a genuine 60's release.

Survivors "good Baby"
Horney Toads is the name of the song not the group isn't it instrumental as well or did I remove the needle before they had chance to sing

The Four Voices
there was one in a box at nighter other night for £50. Weren't they done by the owner or someone who had access to the original plates or summat and then passed of as originals rather than re-issue, hence the high price?

it belonged to someone else befere it belonged to Keith. I'll ask my mate the story again as he was there when the acetate was first opened.- Frankie And The Classicals
can someone post sound files of both flips?- Survivors "good Baby"
I can put up with the Good Baby side, the other side (the "A" side) is really terrible. I used to own and play the record out don't forget. It's a good catchy dancer but in the greater scheme of things it's really very ordinary quality wise- Survivors "good Baby"
Good Baby is actually the b-side and the top side is a funky thing called Horny Toad or summat like which is truly awful- Clara Hardy
£40, saw one in a box few weeks ago at that price.- Holy Grails of genres?
A Letter A Day - trent sisters - go-gate 13062 refosoul- Clara Hardy
dunno how true it is but was told it was a soul pack record at one time, maybe for the other side.- Clara Hardy
I think I paid about £15 or £20 around 87/88, saw enough of them about too.- Andy Fisher On Fat Fish
if purely for listening pleasure then why not buy the cd Kent put out? and hasn't Deon Jackson come out on an official cd? at least some money going to where it should and notr in boot leggers pockets if playing it out then it's no different to playing a pressing or a boot, either side for that matter as someone paid lot of money for the original Deon Jackson acetate- Andy Fisher On Fat Fish
maybe thats the sentiment the boot leggers use when pressing copies up- Holy Grails of genres?
I agree Little John is far better, in fact it's damn good, and far more desirable thasn the Trent Sisters which I personally think is average, rare I grant you but average non the less, just my crazy opinion- Clara Hardy
the boots were vinyl, demos and poor print quality. Not for a minute sugesting that they were boots yourself and Dave found.- Andy Fisher On Fat Fish
personally I'd play the lp itself rather than get a cut, spend the money on something else- Andy Fisher On Fat Fish
they are no different to a boot IMHO if taken from something thats been released as in the Andy Fisher.- Clara Hardy
No one has suggested that they are different in any way yet thats probably why no one suggest that they may be boots???? Was told the number found was into three figures, still makes it rare compared to some of the stuff fetching daft money. Has the Boss Four ever been rare? Danny Moore and Oxford Nights were obviously different to the real thing. - Andy Fisher On Fat Fish
