I bet Rodd Keith would pack the floor today, strangley. For all it's faults it is a good dancer and thats all many care about when out. I think Mello Souls, JJ Jackson c/u, Johnny Praye, would have worked back then. Much of Richards later Wigan set would work now as newies IMO. Much of the Wigan stuff people knock but find a newie today of the dance calibre of say Judy Street, I bet that would go down well todays scene as a new discovery. Doesn't mean I want ot hear stuff like this every week But I would sooner hear a Judy Street or similiar than some of the crap touted as rare soul these days
  3. two cds on amazon.... https://amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_/202-1...o.y=0&Go=Go
  4. I remember you getting the Gloria one Pete and you asking me about it. Sure I told you then I knew of another and thnat I had a sound file at the time, although I can't remember who had that copy as it was some time ago. Like The Lord Said is great Northern, Gloria, even though same backing is cringe worthy, especially the chorus.
  5. Gloria - rodd keith - preview 13448 refosoul Here's the Gloria track if anyone want's to listen. Not sure which one, either Dean Anderson or Guy left quite a few bits behind all with the same backing. It's mentioned in the first Guy Hennigan session on Deans show.
  6. no longer cheap, seen as high as £100. Another old Stafford spin.
  7. Hi Dave silly question but have you read Graham Finch's excellent write up on Soulfuldetroit.com? That should answer some of your questions.
  8. Another avenue to explore the scene is old magazines, been a fair few on offer on site last few months. Old Shades of Soul etc give a good account of the scene at the time.
  9. It's the Kinetts that Roger plays. As for 6x6 and wade in water, call me, wouldn't bother me if never heard those again. Harlem Rumble and Michigan Move on the other hand
  10. This might be a good read.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Road-Through-Motow...2280372-1239142
  11. I'll sit and read Graham's story on Soulful Detroit when I get chance later and refresh the grey matter, some chores to do first

maybe a touch more off a list and between 50 and 100 extra for Knox at one time, maybe bit more.
  19. even though no soul in them instrumentals still have place on the scene IMHO. Not everyone's cup of tea I know but tracks like Davis & Tyler - Hold On Help Is On The Way, Sidras Theme, Chaumonts still sound good today.
  20. Not what I heard or read, that is three of them recorded the vocals, Edwin, Steve Mancha and another whose name escapes me and chose one from the three.....
  21. you do listen to some shite funny thing is not even in the same city let alone town. I'm not gonna name anyone, I was just asking what others thought of the senario. Promoter one will hang himself eventually.
  22. copyright is 50 years over here, 90 years I think in the states, only 25 years I think in Holland.
