  2. not sure but Sam may have or had a copy of Sammy Acuna in his sales box
  3. Keb spin at Stafford I think. Pretty sure I have this on a Stafford tape somewhere with him spinning it.
  4. I thought it was, I'll replace the cd sometime for you, give me a reminder in a couple of weeks if haven't done it was the cd mid-tempo/beat ballads

there are DJ's who buy just for the purpose of DJing. Sell one on to buy another. Think most are basically collectors first and the djing came later, often reluctantly, finally persuaded to share a great collection.
  6. I can post one when I get home later on today Andy Great record IMHO if you like your slow stuff
  7. Have seen the Erect release for as much as £75 a while back Old Stafford spin for Robin.
  8. Echo Joans comment..the Masqueraders is awesome. His Jerri Taylor "Its Beautiful" cover up is superb too, dunno where he keeps finding them.

probably right Pete but personally I don't enjoy the particular record. And what would be the point of a forum if no discussion, analysis etc of events, records took place I take it you include yourself in the "applies to everyone" comment
  10. one all-nighter I think I'd be giving a miss DOn't mind a fer instrumentals but all night

I too would dismiss that comment, it should read (all IMHO of course)

spot op...far better 60's and 70's records for £10, £20, £30 etc that are proper soul IMO that should be played before over hyped over played crap like NW (IMO of course ). There are too many DJ's who resort to playing popular and talked about records  they should have the balls to play some of the tenner, twenty or 30 quidders that are unfortunalety over looked in favour of crap like NW NW is a boring record and pretty forgetful, one of those that you soon tire of IMO.
  13. So it's soulful house now and no longer disco whether you like Sam or not, at least he has the balls to play newer and lesser known stuff unlike many of the flock . I don't particularly like the said record but there are many, on the northern and modern scenes who don't frown upon the record, you can't argue with a full floor...so called name or not!
  14. the scene must be in a sorry state when a Finnish funk record and a house record are the best the scene can come up with right now. 100's of records out there that aren't played that should be played before records like these should grace the decks IMO

    yeah Elijah Cole
  16. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
I'd call the original the very first press/run, regardless of how many and what use they were for. In the case of Elijah Cole, he has a gripe because the 1st 300 he no longer has any control over them or the price. He admits he pressed them then calls his own work bootlegs...does that make him the bootlegger How can a second press/run, done many years later, obviously to cash in on the records popularity on the soul scene be the original?
  17. Chalky replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
which ever way you look at it, whatever the reason for the press....demo, private press, commercial use whatever, the original first 300 of the Mixed Emotions and the FH are surely the original press are they not. the label could be owned by the artist
  18. personally I wouldn't call it crossover, just a 70's soulful dancer but thats another arguement/topic
  19. heres one from original release.................i think Mixed_Emotions___Gold_Of_My_Life___Rock_Way.mp3
  20. fookin ell hope Nige is back on his feet and up and soulin soon. Send him my best Nige.
  21. if it was mint it would be £5k plus IMO, still think it will fetch $2500 or there abouts.
  22. got to agree with you Ted about being over rated. If it wasn't so rare it wouldn't get a mention, same as many big money records IMHO.
  23. Yeah I bet you wouldn't Still less than ten copy record and hardly ever comes up for sale so think this will go for big bucks, too many with more money than sense.
  24. Sure Dave Welding either said he'd had a copy or seen it. Anyway he sort of confirmed it existed (verbally mind) when I asked him at the Orwell, maybe Louise can help out here, know Dave's shy when it comes to PC's.
