The 80's was the best time for me , so much quality soul to be heard and that still hasn't been heard by all the scene returnees of the 90's etc. Have to agree with Andy 100% that all these who moan and groan about wanting something different and not doing something about it when it's there for them. The Lifeline is the best and only upfront 60's newies/70's niter. Many new records played there already in it's short history, records that won't be heard any where else cause no one has the balls to let the DJ's loose and let them play what they want. Where else would you see DJ's like Cliff Steele who is one of the most under-rated DJ's with a superb collection, Butch, Andy Dyson, Mick H, Soul Sam...all given the remit to please themselves as long as it's different!!! and all under the same roof. The DJ's who are regulars look forward to the Lifeline because of the policy and put together some of the finest music to be heard on the soul scene and don't just go through the motions of playing big money indemanders. I mentioned it about the lack of the faces you would expect to see at such a venue elsewhere, they don't show, it'as the week in week out people who go every week, my comments were said to be harsh!!! :-/ Same at the Wilton, the second best niter for me. Brilliant venue, top DJ's and collectors who are again told to play something different yet folk don't support it. Same down south at the 100 Club, same people month after month except when there's a free record :-/ These venues need supporting alonside the upfront soul nites like the Union, Orwell (for the other side ;-) ) etc, the scene needs more of these kind of venues playing "new" sounds or it will be just like the rock and roll scene, it is now in some places and venues :-/

Also came out on the rarer Enterprise label. Ruby release more like £40/£50 (or so I thought) with the UA release a little cheaper as said.

Favourite all time
All time fave is Tommy Ridgely - My Love Gets Stronger - International City. Mid Tempo soul at it's very best (IMHO) ;-) And agree with Mischief - Spyder Turner pure class and should be in everyones collection!

Pat & Blenders wanted
Make sure you get the one with All I Need Is Your Good Good Lovin' on the flip and not the instrumental. Will cost you £400 mind so you will have to stop splashing out buying Louis drinks (bet you thought I'd forgotten ;-) ). Other one should be about £40/£50 but some daft twat spent $330 on one on ebay t'other week :-/

Harry & The Keyavas
It is indeed Harry Starr, we discusse it last week or bit earlier somewhere. Just doin' a cd for his missus or ex missus, Chris Lalor been in contact with her, I sent some sound files and she was over the moon to hear them and she now wants some cd's.

The Hytones
I had one bit later, didn't pay much either. Agree with your comments regarding more common records going for more, strange world of northern soul indeed. Still think a hike from £150 within the last 18/24 months to £600 now is abit much.

The Hytones
I'm sorry but £600 for a record that s always been about??? Admittedly not seen every week but it ain't £600 rare IMO!!! Would have thought £250/£300 these days. Agree though a great record.

English promoter looks for Edinburgh venue
Great turnout for the Wilton and a good nigth with some class sets, especially from John Philips and Dean Anderson. Lifeline still way ahead of any other venue for the quality of the upfront sounds but Wilton must be second.

Info needed
Don't think there's a look a like boot but it has been pressed on Goldmine Sevens.

Oxford nights-Dephi
He's hardly going to disclose how many he's found is he. for all we know he could have a 150 count box of originals , stranger things have happened, doubt it though. I was told some weeks ago that the Oxford Knights has been booted/counterfeited, wouldn't touch them personally!

REMEMBER THOSE COVER-UPS??
Seeing as your talking of cover ups, had one chewn going round my head today and can't for the life of me remember who it really is. Was played by Pat Brady and covered as Cindy Scott - Too much for you baby. Anyone remind me what it really is?
-
Johnny Howard The chase is on
I can remember you asking me about it the first time you heard Butch at the 100 Club spin it.
-
REMEMBER THOSE COVER-UPS??
