Sold one out of my sales box for £45 in Ex condition but no pic sleave. Had it marked up at £60
  2. This is very close to what I've been told be someone who was around back then. Apparently a cheque for a small amount was sent to whoever was a known contact on the record. Nothing else just a cheque in an envelope. As soon as it was cashed (probably with the person having no idea what it was for) the record was pressed. This would give the record label some cover if they were ever accused of bootlegging. If you think about some of the sharp practice we know went on in the US why would the UK; or France for that matter; be any different. I agree with Joan. Sepia only for me.
  3. Mine's not like either of them. EDIT: Doh its like the one in the youtube vid though
  4. Got spins at Wigan in 79-80 ish from memory GGIML that is. I think it was even booted.
  5. Given the auction is in dollars I'm sure he'll try and charge dollars to whoever buys it without noticing the small print. Imagine the money someone like Craig Moerer would have on deposit if he did something like this. Could be a nice earner
  6. I realise that Keith but what you paid is what you paid. If I was bidding against you I'd have included the fact of the postage considering my bid. If the postage was 9 dollars I would have bid $20 more. So you may not have won it in those circumstances. Do as Bob advises put in a paypal claim, report him to ebay and give him a load of 1 stars in the feedback.
  7. I have to say if the postage is stated up front I just consider it as part of the price i.e. as if the opening bid was $29 higher and bid accordingly. This one though is a very different matter and a worrying development. Check the small print in red at the bottom of the listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Yvonne-Violets-Cross-My-Heart-VG-Extremely-Rare-Barry-Records-/290668348593?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item43ad2f04b1 He previously had it listed with the same small print but a lower starting price and go no bids so for some reason keeps the small print and put the start price up. Crackpot
  8. Joe's about right IMHO. Not a rare one at all really
  9. You set the bar quite high though Pete with the speed of your usual service.
  10. Flip on mine is "take another chance" or similar and can't recall seeing a different flip around. Not sure how helpful that is.
  11. Chris Geddes - Met them all around the turn of the century at the Union at Strathclyde Uni. He licked some late 60's stuff and lots of 70's but we agreed on the divisions between different genre's of music being a bad thing he advocates mixing it all in ift goo enough. EDIT: JUst realised how far OT this is now appologies feel free to delete.
  12. What's with the f***ing yo-yo Sorry didn't mean to trivialise theft.
  13. MY date for the obligatory "Speed Awareness Course" has just arrived. Bloody 19th at 8am in Leyland I could go straight there I suppose
  14. CD/Mix can NOT be duplicated, published or resold without my permission  Don't suprised if he dells them though
  15. Everyone was playing Hey It's Love a while back. I was playing Don't be Affraid To Love Me as my last record for a while. Great group!
  16. It may say Home of the Blues on the label and have ripped of the original label design but the seller knows it's not a "Home of the Blues reissue".
  17. At least he's said its only 'G'. Could be a VG+ in some peoples eyes lol
  18. I think the Rob Messer (the seller) is long enough in the tooth to know what he's selling.
  19. I've had dealings with auctions as a buyer and a seller Phil and I too can read between the lines and guess at what may or may not be the motivations of sellers and dealers. Just like you I wouldn't dream of accusing any one of anything. Apologies for thinking you linked the results of tims auctions to the site. Not sure who that was but my mistake mate.
  20. I think Phil is Implying that a good way to get people to give you their rare records to auction is to have a lot of high value auction results be they real or imaginary. Who would know? Of course I doubt anyone would go to such lengths. I mean business just isn't like that is it? Isn't it Phil that often posts up the results of a well know sellers auctions.
  21. Funny how he firstly says he picked up two at an all-nighter and on his latest listing he says he picked up odd copies. I'd be suprised if the seller here isn't also the "alleged" bootlegger.
  22. Great tune. I was given a copy of this by a guy in Hull in the 90's. Can't remember who tho lol.
  23. The first clip is Paul Hughes now residing in Lincoln(shire) but I'll be with him tonight at a mates 50th. He does a bit of DJing too mostly with recent boots at local do's but you cannot fault his enthusiasm at all. He's a good dancer IMHO when he's not doing forward rolls and all the other nonesence guys fast approaching their 50's should know better than to try.
  24. I sold one a couple of years ago for £100 see it listed since at that price (not sure if it sold though) I think its a little better known now maybe.
  25. George is more like Val Shively than even Val Shively.
