  1. Mention of William Bell's "Headline News" immediately brings to mind a whole raft of other similar contemporary soul sounds from that time in the mid 80's. You can start a whole new topic out of this thread ... David Sea "Angel" Percy Larkins "Music of Passion" The Mad Lads "You Blew It" J Blackfoot "Where Is Love " George McCrae "Listen To Your Heart" and many many more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best and rarest on Aussie Stateside !!!!
  3. If stock copies exist of this, can someone please post a scan. Also an refo-clip would be greatly appreciated, if that is not asking too much. And can anyone explain how Philly legend Thom Bell came to produce Connie on a fabulous slice of the Philly sound ?!?!
  4. Surely someone has a sound file of this ?
  5. Connie Stevens - Tick Tock - ( Bell ) Mp3 please. Thanks in advance !
  6. What's the Fourth Day's version worth these days ? Ike Noble ? Any other versions ?
  7. Steve, personally the track on the LP that really stood out for me from a Northern Soul point of view was always the Miracles "Its Fantastic" ... but then I could start another topic solely on the fact that, despite the Northern Scene's admiral reapparaisal of the Motown label over the last 25 years, Smokey and the Miracles seem to have been almost completely and inexplicably ignored ??? Where are all the Miracles acetates with great unreleased Northern tracks , or are there none ? Were Smokey and the group not as prolific in terms of volume of recording of tracks in the studio between 63 -68 , as other relatively minor leaguers such as the Velvelettes and the Contours ????
  8. Yes LP only, which is a great thing as it's another one in the eye for the "I only play sevens-couldn't be arsed carrying LPs around" brigade ...............
  9. Cunnie , I'd be hiring a rocket to the moon if it was the LP !!!
  10. Greg, I'm after a copy of The King James Version LP on ABC ? Any chance ?
  11. Can't believe some of you lot ! Even if he's got 200, it still remains a very rare record ! Where's your perspective on this ! The northern scene has been through this scenario countless times over the years. Once they've all been absorbed by collectors, the market value will be back at the previous level. The demand on this record will always outstrip supply. If any of you have been offered a "twofer" at a bulk price by this seller - as some of you have indicated by your posts - but you only want or can afford one, then PM me and I'll take one and you keep the other.
  12. Is Carl still with us and, if so, still performing ?
  13. The UK Jay Boy release of the Fi Dels "Try A Little Harder" plays much louder and clearer than the original US release on Keymen !!!!!!!!!!
  14. That's what I thought too, never in all this time have I ever heard mention of a Tery Callier 7" on Erect. Begs the question, how many other popular "modern soul" favourites from, let's say the era between '79 - '83, only exist as a 12" with no 7" release whatsoever ????
  15. Does this exist on US Erect as a 7" , or was it only released as a 12" ???

    .
  17. Isn't it Dave Cash who is introduced at the beginning of the legendary "Hand Clappin Footstompin Funky Butt Live" LP of Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band ???
  18. Dave, which of her three LPs do you mean ? If you have a copy of the first to sell, count me in .
  19. Think Mr Manship had one for sale at 100 quid .... Aussie only remember !

    Eddie Floyd on Stax
  21. After Barbara Lewis, Pattie's is the best version, no doubt ! Aussie only too !!!
  22. Derek, talkin' about Scottish soul , what about (semi) legendary african-american jazz-man Rufus Harley who built his whole career in the 60's doing great gritty r n b / jazz instrumentals on the BAGPIPES !!!
