  1. It sounds more than likely that he's trying to switch his shagged copy for your EX and get a refund. You should politely tell them that if they are returning the 45, you'll be able to check if it's the same record you sold them from the scan. Then they may think twice, since they'll obviously get caught out. Lucky it has that huge drill hole. Makes you wonder how many records you could identify as your own from a line-up...
  2. Been picking up the 100 Club 45s through the years, and I'd like to complete my run... I only need three of the early ones: KENT 45s 6T3 A - The Platters - Not My Girl 6T3 B - Sammy Ambrose - Welcome To Dreamsville 6T4 A - Peggy Woods - Love Is Gonna Get You. 6T4 B - Z Z's Band - You Just Cheat And Lie. 6T8 A - Chuck Jackson - What's With This Loneliness. 6T8 B - The Superb Strings - Surf And Soul. Any help much very much appreciated, hoping to get to the anniversary this year to actually get one in person. Probably work out cheaper!!!
  3. I ordered a record from this SOULHEAVEN dude, and made a note of the paypal date expecting this to be a real pain. Record was paid for on 15th August - and it arrived this morning 7 days later. So, no complaints from me, quicker than most UK sellers...
  4. Hi there I'm looking for Ernie K Doe "Here Come The Girls" b/w "A Long Way Back From Home" (Janus J-167). Although I'd settle for the self-titled LP on Janus... Any PMs very much appreciated.
  5. Try... the funk forum. CLICK! Although most members seem to lurk round here, anyway, trying to hoover up funk bargains. Like yours! Copies have always knocked about, decent track - you should probably get £70 for it. Now, anyone got any OTHER Apple & Three Oranges singles from old soul packs???

  8. BUMP! Finishing in a few hours - going CHEAP!
  9. Old Town "Bell Sound' stamped original of this classic stomper... CLICK!
  10. >005 Black Haze Express (Sam Dees) - Won't Nobody Listen/Pretty Soon Never knew this was Sam Dees... thanks for the info!
  11. PRICES RECUCED!
  12. It *IS* interesting, but if you sort it by records which actually have bids then the top price list goes like: U2 Beatles Iron Maiden Celebrities (soul) Bob Dylan Beatles Gene Toones (soul) Elvis Roland Kirk Little Willie Johnson Beatles LP collection Beatles Which suggests that maybe Record Collector are more tuned in than you might think. Obviously you can't write a 6-page feature on Gene Toones, but a round-up of the soul sales and a WEE bit of history each month would be interesting.
  13. Thanks for your help, chaps... the info is for a re-issue of a single which has a pretty obscure 70s cover of this. I'll let you know nearer the time.
  14. Excuse my ignorance but what are these? Old? new? Record reviews? Photos? If they're good enough for Pete I may well just take the plunge...
  15. Hi there, I need the songwriting credit and publishing details for an O'Jays song. It's on "Survival" LP from around 1975 (I think) and the song is called "What Am I Waiting For". As usual, any help greatly appreciated...
  16. Wow! I'd love to hear the rocksteady version, and the Chantelle cut. Any chance of soundclips? And as for "unreleased acetate" - if ever there were two words to get the pulse racing? Obviously I would absolutely LOVE to hear this... More Curtis Mayfield productions???
  17. Patti Jo's "Make Me Believe In You" has always been an all time favourite of mine - does anyone know anything about her? Both her 45s (Wand and Scepter) are superb, did she cut anything else? The reason for this thread was i just picked up Melba Moore's version yesterday (on "This Is It" album), which is pretty nice. Any other versions except Curtis Mayfield's original???
  18. Is this a 10" with an orange FLOMAR label? I've got 3 of these and have been told they were Val Simpson demos (one is "I Want A Guarantee" which was cut by Maxine Brown and the other two are demos for The Apollas) - just wondered if yours was the same... In answer to the original question, you've got to love an acetate - it's like the ORIGINAL original. And if you're lucky it'll be a slightly different take.
  19. Has anyone got a soundclip? Or is there a CD which gathers up Willie Tee's tracks?
  20. TINA MASON LP on hold...

  24. Gloria Walker & the Chevelles "You Hit The Spot Baby" - I think I actually prefer that to the Angela Davis, it sounds like it's about to kick right off just before the fade. Just wait till Soul Sam starts playing it...
