Usa Dj's
You have a website or can you let me know the future dates of your soul night? I'd like to visit Pittsburgh this summer & would like to take in some sounds while I'm there.

How D'ya File Your Tunes ?
It used alphabetically by label, but then a few years back I switched to break out by genre (soul, funk, jazz, freakbeat/mod) then alphabetically

Love the Carol Jones. Those horns are unbelievable.

The Postie Thread Again
not sure if this is sad or funny, but a large postal truck got into an accident outside Philadelphia (not too far from where I live), spilling the contents all over the road. All I could think of was "I hope none of the 45s I recently purchased off the internet were in that trailer".....

Great Label Design
That Astro label is nice. Always a bonus when the label has a nice design. Now if only these records had company sleeves.........

Great Label Design
Interesting record. I like the stoned out fuzz funk version of California Dreaming on the flip. Might have to give it a spin tonight.

Trying To Make Ends Meet

Kool And The Gang
Chocolate Buttermilk is a fantastic tune. Probably my favorite as well. Last year I found the first LP for a couple bucks, and I was thinking I'd sell it since I'm more of a 45 collector, but then Give It Up got under my skin...it's not going anywhere now. Who's Gonna Take The Weight still sounds pretty good as well.

Discoveries Or Goldmine
I believe everything that is published in the magazine is available on the internet somewhere. Not sure if it's available for general view or if you have to somehow confirm you subscribe. That being said, if you'd like me to, I'll rip out the record show pages from February's issue & post them to you. PM me your address if you'd like me to.

Arrived Today
I got a copy of Robert Moore's "Tears of the World" (Blue Candle) 45 form the postman today. Tune just seems to overwhelm me when that chorus comes in with those horns. Also spinning Sterling Harrison's "Back Tracking" (Real World) 45 tonight. It's from '80, & a Holland-Dozier-Holland tune that I found in a thrift last weekend. Not bad, even though it's very late for me......

Similarities With Rockabilly Scene
Reminds me of last year when my wife and I went to a restaurant/night club & in the middle of dinner a rockabilly band came on stage. The crowd was pretty straight - as in no idea about subcultures - and they eventually started asking for some covers, something from Motown was suggested. Well the band said - somewhat nicer than I expected to them to - that it wasn't their sound, but eventually caved in and played a cover of Barrett Strong's 'Money', which was pretty much lost on all the requestees..... OK, maybe that has nothing to do with the original post, but it's too late now.....

This Is Brilliant
Great tune. Haven't spun it in a while & nice to hear it again. I can see this getting more spins around the house for a while......

Bought Anything Good Lately
Unfortunately, I've sent back the last two 45s that I've won off e-bay....seems to be a rash of mis-grading......I think it might be time to take a break.

New Year Want's - What Do You Hope To Add Your Box In 2006?
I hope to find the last few 45 titles I need on the Prestige label (OK, not soul, but hey you asked). Otherwise, I agree with the statement above wholeheartedly - after having to send back 2 45s won on e-bay in the last month due to poor grading abilities, I'm gonna rely on the dealers I know personally & those have an established reputation and see what I bump into (if any of you soul dealers have any funk 45s, please let me know). Right now I'm pretty much done with e-bay. Here's to a soulful 2006 soul-source (corona in hand)!

Warren's Wants No 792
The Mongo Santamaria 45 shouldn't run ya more than $10. If you don't come across one in the next 2 weeks, let me know and I should be able to locate a copy (I'll be out of town the next week).
