  1. Was this ever booted?
  2. And this LP, aussie release.
  3. Few that I’ve picked up in Oz. None of the mega rare discs but I was pleased to find them.
  4. It’s hard to believe that it all happened nearly 20 years ago! What tunes do people associate with this fantastic venue? One from me is Barbara Lynn-Movin’ On A Groove.
  5. Festival Time got to number 39 in UK charts in 1971. So a reasonable hit no doubt issued because of popularity in early Northern Soul clubs.
  6. Hi, any artist, any label. Just interested in that type of sound as opposed to the smoother 'motowny' stuff. Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
  7. Or Four Tops-Shake Me, Wake Me?
  8. How about Temptations-Get Ready?
  9. By way of a change I thought that I’d make myself a compilation of Stax/Atlantic type sounds a la Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, Solomon Burke etc. I’m having a lack of imagination problem however so any suggestions of mid to uptempo sounds in that vein would be extremely welcome. Thanks in advance for any help.
  10. When I was in America a couple of years ago the restaurant chain ‘Chillis’ used Little Ann-Lean Lanky Daddy
  11. Originals-Suspicion Contours-Just A Little Misunderstanding Barbara Randolph-I Got A Feeling Four Tops-Shake Me, Wake Me Isley Brothers- Tell Me It's Just A Rumour Baby Kim Weston-Helpless Marvelettes-I'll Keep Holding On Marvin Gaye-This Love Starved Heart Of Mine Temptations-Angel Doll Temptations-Girl Why You Wanna Make Me Blue Velevelettes-Lonely Lonely Girl Am I That's 11, oh well!
  12. Sitting in a Jaguar dealership and on comes 'The Who Who Song' followed by 'Trying To Find My Woman'!
  13. Yes, that's The Purple Hearts
  14. Great record, but no business being played at a soul night imo
  15. I had it on a tape many years ago but cannot recall what it was. From memory it was a late 60s/ early 70's thing, with a chorus 'Penny for them, penny for them'. Not a lot to go on but hopefully enough for somebody to identify it?
  16. More great listening Sean, takes me back to when I was 16!
  17. I've heard that The Stylistics appeared and were impressive. My knowledge of them is limited to their 70s hits and a couple of early 80s releases. Was anybody in the forum there? What sort of material did they do? I've often wondered.
  18. A great listen indeed, is there a tracklisting for part one?
  19. Could I have a copy of the list please - aat.ch@tesco.net
  20. Although not from 1966, I really wish that they would give a release to Martha & The Vandellas - I'm Willing To Pay The Price.
  21. I loved it because it was so different. Did you play Kitty Haywood-Givin' It Up too?
  22. Thanks Dave, if memory serves me right it was you that played it wasn't it?
  23. Hi all Any ideas about a current price for a 45 of this old Stafford spin? A quick google search seems to indicate that Boogie collectors like it. Thanks in advance Tony Turner
  24. I work with a chap who is very much into his 50s and Americana. He's aware of the Northern Soul scene and we got to discussing the last gasp attempts of 50s artists like Tommy Sands, Jerry Naylor etc (The Statue, City Lights) - he asked if I could compile some of the tunes for him. I'd love help with suggestions- Charlie Gracie, Charlie Rich and so on, records that have been played at our clubs. Over to you lot
