Proper wasp nest Andy. Spent many a time looking for the nests. Very difficult to find in woodlands esp oak woods from which they build their nests from the chewed up bark. Used the grubs for fishing. Best roach and chub bait ever. Got stung a few times for my troubles. Steve

He did, along with Where I'm not wanted. Greatest live performance ever. What a night. There was a live recording of the night but it has disappeared. Steve

With a bit of luck, I'm hoping to get some pictures of the iconic flying Scotsman sometimes tomorrow at Heywood, near Bury. Just caught a glimpse of it today, I could see the steam from its chimney in the distance then when I got to the level crossing where I could see down the line it was just leaving Heywood station. So just the briefest of glimpse. Steve

As a ex promoter of a large nighter which unfortunately closed a few years back. I can honestly say that every single DJ that graced the decks at Winsford got paid exactly the same from the biggest names to the unknown one. They all done the same job, for the same 1 hour set and all got paid considerably more than there day job would pay per hour. And nobody turned the offer to DJ there down. As a ex DJ. I have been paid in various ways. From nothing as a favour to help get venues up and running to £150 plus travel expenses. And everything in between. But I like most people would have been happy to do it for nothing because of the love of this music. Let's face it ,you couldn't make a living from being a DJ on just the northern soul scene. Steve

I remember it being a monster record about 1976 maybe 77 at the Casino . But think it was a reactivation from sometime earlier. If memory serves me right I had a dated and stamped demo with May 68 on it. Anyone cast any light on that or remember anything similar Steve

Martyn. Its nice to see some different birds . I,ve just been adding up my year list for 2015 and it was 149 different species, that was country wide. One local birder had that many at Elton reservoir nr Bury . But that sort of dedication is bordering on a obsession if you ask me Steve
