  1. Two real rarities near me yesterday. A pair of Red rumped swallows. They were at Heaton Park around the reservoir for a few hours then disappeared as quickly as they had arrived. Two different reported sighting of swifts in the Manchester area. Can't believe how early these are. Steve
  2. Ambassadors. Love that record, so many memories of the Casino for me don't know if that's a realistic price though Steve
  3. Russell. There's a large population in and around the London area and according to reports small populations in Manchester, Birmingham and as far north as Edinburgh. They can be controlled as a species with them been non residents if they are causing a problem to crops and or native wildlife Steve Steve
  4. Neil I know some night's it felt like there where that many in the queue when you went one way your feet another and your bag in a totally different direction. Steve
  5. Neil. There's no one normal on here mate Steve
  6. Russ must have speeded the figures up. Steve
  7. Russell. There's a small population of them in greater Manchester, mostly to the south west round the sale area. But there had been reports of just a couple of bird's near me. So to actually see one of them was great. Steve
  8. Just driving through Middleton about two hundred yards from where the old civic centre nighters used to be held when I saw my first-ever ring necked parakeet . It flew across in front of my car and landed in a tree in somebody's front garden.. Well chuffed. Steve
  9. Suz. Good to have you back posting from your lovely part of the country Steve
  10. Take care Ian. Get well soon Steve

Neil. Why quote northern soul as just been from 1965-1969. Yes I understand that plenty of soul records where released in those years, but many if not even more where released after that time. Steve

Another day. Another name. What next. Who honestly gives a toss. A good soul record is a good soul record, whether it's danceable or not . Rare or common. Cheap or expensive. Plus unless it's a new release they're ALL old records Steve
  14. Oops. Had forgotten about my sabbatical. Will have to get my camera in work. Two pairs of grey wagtails . One with a very dark almost black head. Very striking bird Steve
  15. Martyn. Some of us have been stuck in work while others are obviously out enjoying themselves. Steve
  16. Swifty. My old Garland Green revue demo was a minter mate Steve
  17. Martyn. They're cheeky pests. Once had one trying to get in my keepnet whilst I was fishing a match on the river weaver near Northwich. As you say it's the last think you need on a reserve. They destroyed my dad's pond. Killing every fish including koi to nearly ten pounds.didn't eat any of them. Savage murderers with no natural predators. Only consolation is as the otter population increases the mink are decreasing. Steve
  18. Just managed to catch these two Mistle thrushes mating and the goldfinch obviously doing the bird equivalent of dogging Steve
  19. Was surprised to this Moorhen chick . It looks about two weeks old judging by the size of it compared to the adult. You can just see the residue still attached to the beaks from the adult feeding its young Steve
  20. Good to see you posting again Dave. Some fantastic flowers, Shrubs etc as always Heading for rspb Burton mere wetlands reserve shortly hopefully returning with some decent photographs Steve
  21. Russell. Thanks for posting. A very interesting short article. Steve
  22. Russell .They arrive via Schiphol mate Steve
  23. Russell. I always thought they arrived in the south west of Ireland and the Scilly isles first then gradually moved eastward. your right about the migration chart kit would be interesting Steve
  24. Once again the working God's are against me. One day. I will make it. Steve
  25. That's great news Russell. It's almost a week now since my first sighting of the year for the house Martin's and swallows in the north west of the UK. .. so by rights I would imagine that they have also reached the Netherlands. Keep us posted. Steve
