  1. Surely not where you live but venues attended? Records that were played at Yate and very big there at the time were not discovered by the majority until the late 80,s early 90's. In the 70,s they would be localised biggies
  2. As far as I am aware Soul Source was played in the very early 70,s (Torch etc.) and even generated a reissue on verve. The original plays were because of the UK Verve release followed later by its subsequent revisit (oldies) around 78 time. It was also used as a backing theme to a children's BBC programme (can't remember the name) that my kids watched in the 90's. Regards
  3. Wasn't it "stick to me" on RCA? Has anybody seen an issue, I for one never have.
  4. Off at a tangent here, but recently heard Sammy Ambrose - Dreamsville played out, possibly the first time I've heard it in 15 years (only seen it on UK Stateside too) but there now appears to be a few on the US musicor release/demo turning up. Have a few been located/found? TOTP
  5. Apologies mate, didn't realise the mere mention would provoke such a reaction TOTP
  6. Phew!!!!, glad that's sorted, I was worried for a while, thought the few Big Top records I have were boots TOTP
  7. If only picka-chick knew what he was supplying, and not just the chicken, pity he never bought us some too (vinyl that is). Whatever happened to them and who owns them now is anybodies guess, I guess. TOTP
  8. Apologies, thinking of Bob Relf, what a **** (note the username)
  9. The issue had a female version by Paula Roussell on the B side as I recall TOTP
  10. Bought a copy off a friend who was selling up, in the 70's, not played it since, have to search out. There's growing interest in it now I think TOTP
  11. Whats that, the last three entries? or some guy trying to flog iffy records
  12. Even the bloke flogging the vinyl?
  13. Is the other sides called "do this for me"? another great track
  14. Seem to recall they played KLMLYD as an instrumental in favour, and wasn't it on a different label? TOTP
  15. Hope these suggetions get a response from any DJ's that may be viewing, would be great to hear a few played out. TOTP
  16. Are these operated by those green aliens in a space ship that I may have seen on a american cartoon series?
  17. OOPS, meant 4 killer dancers, mid you the rest is good deep stuff TOTP
  18. Kell Osbourne was released on one of the Loma series of albums in the 70's (7 in the set I think including the great one dedicated to JJ Jackson and Linda Jones - one side each, both sides being released as albums before, the Linda Jones being particularly sought after as it contains at least 7 killer dancers.
  19. At he time of release of his version he was doing the rounds, as were a lot of other artists, and appeared at Wigan, and he obviously sang this tune because of the Northern connection (and there was little chance of Roy Hamilton appearing) so whether or not spark records was legitimate, couldn't this be considered as bad as a boot because it was a means of supplying demand, remember Wigans Ovation, etc. Makes you think!!!!! TOTP
  20. Will it be on the AirTown 2011 logo? TOTP
  21. Remember being told by a friend some years ago that when Robert Knight - Branded was being played (mid 70's) off the LP (last track) his friend removed the other tracks with a stanley knife so that it looked like a single. Nowt so queer as folk. TOTP
  22. **** me, as if these records weren't rare enough, what are you doing? Am also guilty of such crimes with various platters. Always thought it would be good to buy every copy of a not so rare record and break every one bar one, and then have world domination of the soul scene Mr Bond.
  23. Used to play the Yum Yums at our local do some 20 years ago, prefer it to Brothers Grimm, ain't there another version. Anyway my choice for today (and future) is Ila Van - You Made Me This Way on PIP, despite it being a 1972 recording (modern in some eyes) it is just a great track, far better than 'Cant Help Lovin That Man'. I Last heard this at M's circa 1979. If any record needs reactivating this does, instead of playing the same old known sounds. TOTP
  24. You know what the Scarlet One is like
  25. Is your Al Williams on La Beat or Palmer (or was it Andy Williams you used to play?)
