  1. If I already had an "instrumental top ten" this would nudge something out of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbLYRre-zvE
  2. I've always like instrumentals, well some of them . This always reminds me of the mid-80s Along with Michigan Move and alternate Back Street.
  3. Well yes .. unless you're one of the poor people who couldn't park their car or who got blocked in the large scale congestion your limos must have caused in the surrounding area.. Sorry this is way off-topic. Last one from me on this side frivolity
  4. This is the momentous day when Sooty's former nationally banned nickname "Sooty" was successfully entered into the police computer. To cut a long story short Rupert Murdoch was crushed.
  5. That's got to be some kind of record? It took me 22 minutes to read. Nice one Sooty
  6. This clip is from an Omnibus shown in 1979 (or 78 without checking). The name of this short film was: "Disco Delights, Or What A Way To End It All" by David Richardson. The main film shown was "The People's Park" a documentary about Central Park, New York and this short was tacked on the end. it was fairly short and focused on "northern discos" and featured heavy rock, "Roxy" and Northern Soul, I watched it at the time and the music that was playing while the clip was on was definitely Afternoon Of The Rhino. Whether this was what they were dancing to in reality I can't say. I think Interplay was the intro music to the whole short film Edit - it was 1978
  7. 90% .The Diana Ross/Jackson 5 myth took me in.
  8. My top 6 Reach Out Shake Me Walk Away Renee I'm In A Different World The Key Simple Game
  9. I had the AWB cover - still thinks its one of the best versions.
  10. it's been up on youtube for a while - only downside is its split into parts. it's a great film in the neo-realist .vein. Well worth watching. Hopefully the dvd will have some extras.
  11. Don't know if anyone's seen this. It's new to me: Promo film for Baby Don't Stop Now filmed in London in 1970 mainly around the Kings Road, Chelsea Drugstore/ Royal Avenue area.
  12. It's on Thursday 5.30 pm - 7.00 but will almost certainly be on again next week.
  13. I think this the local "New Dance Show" There's clips available on youtube plus other local Detroit shows like The Scene and Contempo.
  14. Yes JJ Barnes is on record saying that they worked on it together e.g. Stevie Wonder showing chord changes etc. When it was clear he wasn't staying at Motown SW told him to take BPCBH with him. He also stated that SW told him he wanted no credit for it
  15. JJ Barnes - Now She's Gone/Hold On To It is always on ebay at criminally low prices. Staying on Revilot; Parliaments' - The Goose. My best shop buy this year: Main Ingredient - Life Won't be The Same on UK RCA. Not rare obviously but I was pleased to get a near mint copy for a fiver in old London town.
  16. I think this is a top track. From the info Pete S has given I've been able to find that John Smith - the drummer - has/had an association (at 2011 at least) with the Oriel Ynys Môn gallery, Anglesey. He'd be around 64-5 now so there's a definite point of contact. (unless he's died in the last two years).
  17. I'm pretty sure the tracking only shows once it's been received. Its not a detailed update type tracking. If it has to be signed for it will go back to the depot if the recipient isn't home. . sometimes on the card the postman leaves it says to wait for 48 hours before collecting at the depot (some postmen are idiots) although 24 hours is normal. so there may be a long time delay
  18. Regarding record shops in central London I would say: Hanway Street > Berwick Street/Soho. (although sometimes it doesn't smell too good). Of the other two main area that contain shops : Camden and Notting Hill , I prefer the latter (better vibe) Portobello Road is a must if you're visiting (on Saturday). As mentioned there are a number of stores in the area and on Notting Hill Gate but don't expect any bargains.. If you visit Portobello Rd market I would go early to look around because towards midday it gets very busy to the point of being unbearable. The side streets aren't a problem though. There's also an offshoot market at Portobello Green which runs under the Westway from Portobello Rd to Ladbrooke Grove and is good for anything retro inc a few record stalls. Also situated here is "Adam of London" so if you're in any way modish and you've got some spare cash and fancy a new suit this is your place. mas
  19. Actually I think I'm off mark. The Four Kings are too early - (it was the Willie Mitchell/Don Bryant connection).
  20. The Four Kings (Willie Mitchells) backing group?
  21. Lighten up I'm sure some people think its great (just not me). Saying that if I was in a trendy bar and after a couple of extortionately priced bottles of lager I might be tempted to "throw some shapes"? to this.
  22. Absolutely dreadful. Unbelievably bad. Sorry..
  23. Me too, only a couple of things i disagree with: As I've said before personally I thought the Seeds sounded great at Wigan - a kind of psychedelic soul/rock sound - and packed the floor (I don't think it sounds as good at home). I Don't Like To Lose had been uncovered long before this. (in 79 I think) - it was mentioned in Echoes at the time. Was this visit May 80 or May 79?
  24. What a coincidence. I found this last night through viewing the footage of Parliament on the Say Brother tv show from 1969 (amazing performance) which has been up for a couple of years but which I'd not seen till yesterday.
