Gil Scott Heron
He had a fantastic band with him back in the 80s when I used to see him live in London, fairly often His bassist was a guy called Robert Gordon who was amazing. He ( R G) also had his own "go go" band who played the Wag club one memorable midweek night. Cheers Paul

Gil Scott Heron
"When You Are Who You Are" "Madison Avenue" "Your Daddy Loves You" "Angel Dust" "Hello Sunday Hello Road" All spring to mind plus those already mentioned His "spoken word" tracks are worthy too, always bitingly accurate and honest but with a wicked humour twist Good to see hes schedualed to make a live appearance @ "Blues Alley" in his hometown Washington DC soon too Nice to see a Gil thread Cheers Paul

The Whispers Appearing At Hammersmith Apollo
Yep they were all still there, Walter and Scotty sounding great. One of the others was recovering from some heart problems so couldn"t move around the stage too much but was still singing. Cheers Paul PS They"re also playing Amsterdam in May, part of a package with Thelma Houston & Evelyn "Campagne" King

James Brown L.p. - Which One Is Original?
So does the Dutch original issue Stuart. Its actually the US sleeve (the cloggy one anyway) cos it has the American address printed on the inner gatefold. No hat on the Dutch label or picture of Mr Brown either with or without moustache Have seen the picture of him on quite a few US 45s of his and his productions from the 70s Cheers Paul PS Great LP........................................... "Papa don't take no Mess" !!!

Hot Sauce
Have found this info in the "Soul Harmony Singles" book 'Bring It Home.......' was their 1st release on Volt in March '72 Lead singer was Rhonda Washington Think the white label must be a promo copy can"t believe its ever been bootlegged but ya never know My copy is the brown stock, unfortunatley with the labels flipped Great record I reckon and their other Volt releases are also worth checking out Cheers Paul

Deep Funk And N/soul What The Funkin' Hell
A classic and I for one do like this sunnysoul It also got a new lease of life on the rare groove scene in London in the 80s. As for a possible northern classic I wouldn't have thought there"d be much chance today but at its time of release I reckon it may well have gone if some enterprising DJ had picked up on it. Cheers Paul
