  2. Herb Ward - If you got to leave me - RCA (t'other side of the classic 'Honest to goodness') Massive potential imho Cheers Steve

Just started a thread on it in the 'all about soul' forum I'd say it was the answer song to DR.............just 30 years later Cheers Steve
  5. Brill them matey And apart from Little Jewel I think I've heard you play 'em all out too - so yer good to yer word That Bloodstone 45 getting more and more recognition at all styles of venues. Went down well at The Orwell (as played recently by your good self, Molly & Flanny) PLUS The Blackpool Tower main room was a rockin' to it aswell if memory serves Never heard LJ out for zillions of years.........actually bought that rascal when i was still at school Cheers Steve
  6. TOP QUALITY sign offs lads Mr Mooneys reference to me thinking one of the tracks had a similar bass line to 'Float on' Brilliant stuff - has made me smile this morning, that's for sure Cheers Larry.........caaaaancer
  7. Just received the first two releases from Paul Mooney's new venture 'Selecta Records' and felt that it was worth shouting about them :-) I believe the songs on both 45's were made in 2006 and are now released in 2007 on 45!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They've been around on CD but it's nice to finally have them on our fave format - vinyl :-) Sheba Potts Wright (SSP 8001) - is a killer double sider - 'I just can't walk away' is an answer version to David Ruffin's classic 'Walk away from love' and is a very tasty little mover indeed. T'other side 'Just for the night' is also a tasty mid tempo dancer, the bass line of which reminds me of The Floaters 'Float on' - Both sides find Sheba in fantastic vocal form! In my opinion, this is a lovely double sider to kick off the label and hopefully will continue to be played at many quality Soul venues in 2007. Bobby Hutton (SSP 8002) - The Chicago Soul legend returns with this very soulful lilter - as above, this has been played by descerning DJ's over the last few months and deserves to sell well! Great lyrics with a great feel and Bobby is still in great vocal form after all these years :-) Keep up the good work Paul - let's hope you're rewarded with the sales you deserve :-) I'm also looking forward to the launch of his sister label 'Shotgun Records' which will release older Soul product on 45's - I'm presuming many of these releases will be either first time on vinyl or even previously unreleased tracks from many top artists - I'm sure Paul will let us know if it's any different? Cheers Steve Plumb

  17. Yeah funny how dealers come and go on ebay! Seemed a good guy at the time too! Even the temptation of 100% profit won't take it from Plumb Towers I'm afraid Let's hope no one starts a 'other good deals on ebay' thread............or i might have to tell you about the Tony Aitken LP Although Sean can top the lot with his Robbie Lawson Cheers Steve

  20. fookin ell Epic.........there's no comparison to the vocals of GG to those other two, at least GG is soulful (if a tad out of tune, which is what gives it it's charm imho) ............i feel a new thread coming on.............instrumentals played i.l.o the vocal side????? Cheers Steve
  21. This was the one i won which turned into 3 copies Think my top bid was summat like $300 too You and Sean wanted it for nowt you tight gets Cheers Steve
  22. I think Richard Searling bought one from ebay in the last year or so, as he played it a bit on his show at the time Cheers Steve
  23. Hi Sean Just amended me original story to say i ended up with 3 copies (yours, mine, Girth), i'd forgot (honest!) ....and yes, forgot to omit that it was you i outbid..........................you always was a tight bugger thinking you'd get it for that paltry amount ....in fact, didn't i feel so sorry for you that i sold it you at what you'd bid for it on evilbay????? ...so for that reason alone, i'm afraid the scouts uniform will have to be worn for a few more years in me room at Yarmouth, in fact Girth should really come dressed as a beaver too Cheers Steve
  24. Bloody Hell, you're right...............need to amend me story Thinking about it, it was THREE copies i bagged, the seller had TWO EXTRA copies Happy days at Plumb Towers that day i can tell you BUT at least they went to two top guys Cheers Steve
