  1. They'll be chanting "Northern's coming home, it's coming, northern's coming home!" this weekend.
  2. That's it. We've listened to Holly St James for the last time.......

    Original Velour Only.
  4. Had the pleasure of seeing Gregory Porter live in Leeds a week and a half ago. The man was on excellent form, as were his backing band. Even prompted one (inebriated?) male member of the audience to shout out "You sexy bugger". Don't know if Gregory knew what to make of that comment, but he took it in his stride.
  5. .....while it plays off CD.
  6. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't touch either of those with a barge pole, if it's all the same to you.

  11. "It's Better To Have" certainly got played during the 70's.
  12. Not available in Blighty I'm afraid. This one works...
  13. James Brown's version of "There Was A Time" still gets plays.
  14. Come on Joey, it's a family website. Now where are my flip flops?
  15. It's quality that counts for the older, more discerning soul fan, whether rare as rocking horse sh*t or more better known. Actually you can polish a turd, but that's another story.
  16. Barbara Mills - Queen of Fools, another example of a country song by a country singer, probably bigger on the Northern Soul scene than Charlie Rich.
  17. One from the archives. Just trying to empty out some drawers and came across this one. Put a smile on my face. Taken on the flight deck of the last HMS Bulwark circa 1980/81, after some inter-departmental sport. All the guys were from my mess, and I'm the one paying attention at front left. Maybe Joey can tell me what squadron the Sea King in the background is from.....
  18. Wonder what the other 25% was?
  19. Takes up less print than "....the Soul Scene in the North"?
  20. Soft Southern Soul.
  21. Interesting take from Numero....... https://thevinylfactory.com/news/numero-group-hits-out-at-charade-of-record-store-day/amp/
  22. Poptastic!
  23. I think if it was given a crap name it wouldn't have attracted as many people.
  24. Nice tribute to Lee on Richard Searling's "Cellarful of Soul" this afternoon.
