So ..how many of us hear old tunes we know and love done with a new twist .. Went to see this DJ/Producer last week and bought a copy of a CD he did .. Great twist of two tunes .... this and an old Kool & the Gang tune ... love it Anyone else got old tunes with a new twist

She's an amazing lady ... with a very tight backing band and really gives her all ... Ive seen her twice this year ... First time at the Roundhouse ..Camden... London ..and she did a great set ... with a huge encore in which she got about 30 people out of the audience to dance on stage with her .... Second time was at Glasto ... and yes it was another great set ... and the crowd loved her .. but it was not a great day ... rain ... but she lifted everyone's spirits ... and brought a bit of sun to everyone ... If you get a chance ... go see her ... and check out the Daptone label and get to see the Daptone Review ... its a show and a half ... 10/10

Ok ... Well waited until now to post as i wanted to get the weekend out of my system before making any kind of judgement. Saw it at Prince Charles Leicester Sq ... great venue if it wasn't for the guy behind me who kept pushing the back of the chair with his feet ... and these chairs felt every movement . So film .. A great snapshot of time and it did bring so many happy / funny / sad and touching memories back ... although i thought the story line was a little weak and more could have been made of the characters . Like someone said .... would have loved more focus on Wigan .... The Beachcomer... Mr M's ... the baths or cafe afterwards or the trip back home on a comedown ..More dance scenes inside ... swapping and selling records .... Did not really like the fact that it kind of portrayed all the older / wiser / main boys on the scene all to be drug addicts that injected . We boys all popped pills but never injected ... Chalkies when you where hard up .... Black Bombers when mates older brother would get us some from the Wheel ... Billy Wizz ..all the time ... Bronci pack when we where really really hard up ... but none of our crowd injected ... and never would .. Loved the car sequence of trying to escape the boys in blue ... and i dont mean Evertonians ... that really hit home as it happened twice to us..and escaped both times by the driver ( who shall remain nameless .....Mr Christie ...oooops ) turning the headlights off and flooring it ... but never ...ever return onto the roads after a 10 second wait in an alley ... got to give it 30 mins at least The feel and the sounds where great ... it did push me back in time .... ..i'm not sure if i was hoping for something truly magnificent to blow me away and leave me wanting more ..the fact is i wanted more of the music ..which i got at the 100 Club after .... talc next time , cause boy is that floor sticky ... Music .. Fantastic ...bought the CD and the Vinyl and some great tunes and mix .... and the quality of the cinema sound was not bad ... even if someone shouted "turn it up "before it started All in all ... left me a little disappointed .. sorry to say .... only because of the hype ... and what maybe i had already thought it was going to be like after the trailers and publicity I have to say that i'm kind of glad in a way ... cause this scene has always been an underground scene ... a scene that has really gone out of its way NOT to court publicity ... a scene that has its roots in obscurity and I kind of wish it stays a bit like that ... 7/10 A great start of a massive weekend ..that 100 Club finishing at 4am .. then Heatwave at the Jazz Cafe next night 3am finish ..and then up at 6.30 am Sunday and off to final round of BSB at Brands Hatch courtesy of the LLoyds GB Boys .. so thanks to them and well done Shakey Byrne !! Ahhh may be 58 ... but can still show you young boys how to Partay

Love it .... i was a fashion victim of the 70's ..like most ... fish tail parker ... the full length leather black coat for Wigan ... 40 " bags with side pockets and 6 button waist band .... looked great when you span .... but i could only even do two spins or so without loosing balance .... shuffle anyone off the floor ... and feet like Rudolf Valentino ... or is the Rudolf the red nose raindeer Always wanted to be James Brown ... but more like Charlie Brown

Its for new blood to take and yes , learn and look back at the past but to build and have the scene evolve as it should . It great to see new blood get involved with this music as now there is so much more choice than there has ever been in life. Our horizons for musical pleasure are vast ... and we should never close our ears .. I love music ... any kind of music ..I love music..just as long as its groovin !!

This is a myth .... " clear zone " my backside ... yes most of the good dancers went close to the stage ... and towards the middle but us Liverpool lads always went up in Mr M's anyway .. as we loved the stompers and classics more ... Left hand of the stage was always our shout after ... and Beachcomer was always a great warm up ... oh the days .. Swimming after at the baths ... and then train back on a comedown ) ahhhh the joys of Britsh Rail on a Sunday ..

Got my tickets for the 9pm London showing and just heard Elaine on BBC radio this morning ... Looking forward to seeing it so much and the family and i sat down to watch "Spike Island " the other night ... and told them if you think that was a great scene to be involved in , wait till you see " Northern Soul " . My kids have grown up with Northern playing but only one really likes it.... 17yr old girl ... other two are into drum and bass and dub step ... which is cool ... i have a big collection of 12 2 of that stuff as well .. Ordered my 7" Box Set from PlayDirect at £69 ... and they sent me the CD box set by mistake ... after an email convo they said keep it and the box set would be sent out soon ... It came in the post today ... RESULT !! two for one ..better than Morrisons Very big shout our to all that have worked so hard putting this whole thing together .. can't wait till Friday and the gig after at the 100 Club ... if any from the site are going be good to put faces to names , as i'm kind of new back into all of this ... but big Old Wigan boy from Liverpool now in London Steve " Happy Days "

Gary ... don't know you mate ... as ive been off the scene for a while and only a newbie on this site ...but my heart goes out to you mate .. it really does . Just seen the list ... and that's a life time of memories ..never mind the value ... and irreplaceable really. I really hope that someone ..somewhere feels someone's collar on this one and turns up a lead .. It's a violation of many things when someone burgles you ..and you always feel they could return at any time ... its very distressing I know . I would advise anyone who has a collection of any sort to both insure it and also think of the measures you can take to help prevent it from being stolen ... House Alarm . Movement censor cameras ..very cheap and easy to install ..only need one in the room that the collection is in ... Big Dog .. Get someone to house sit and don't let many people know you are going away ..especially not on any Social Media sites .. Hope something turns up for you mate ... cant think what it must be like to just have CD's to play . If I have any of your lost items twice ... which is possible..... their yours mate !! Steve

Not great at all .... but have to say that Social Media is one of the tools thieves now use to target prospects ... The fact that it may have been posted that the occupants of the property may have been away for the weekend ..leaves it very vulnerable and its another resource "low life's" can use to get an easier touch . I just hope it's no one that knows him or a friend of a friend ... these things can have a habit of turning out to be an acquaintance of some kind Its a very sad state of affairs .... but I had a mate get burgled last month while he was away on his honeymoon ( second marriage ) ... it was plastered all over his facebook page of where he was and for how long and every day to day step he was making .. Hate the bloody thing ... but I know it has its uses .. Very sorry to hear of his loss ..just hope he had them covered under his house contents insurance ... ( and i know that can never replace the years of collecting ) And no reference to any Scousers nicking stuff please

Well with the prices some patches / badges have gone through on eBay in the last month or so ... i think they are just trying their luck .... you don't see the 1st Anniversary patch too often ... or maybe its on an original Levies 501 denim jacket worn and signed by Russ W ...

Can't understand trainers at all ... always been "little pieces of leather" for me ..
