  1. I tried to find the video of Butch playing this somewhere in Europe to a packed dancefloor and all singing along to it, but I couldn't find the video. I'm sure Mick H will be hoping and getting a similar reaction to it from the Culcheth crowd this Saturday night.
  2. Another one of my daft decisions to let this go many years ago. Another certain spin from one of this Saturdays guests.
  3. This is an official photo of Charlene & the Soul Serenaders off their web page and a certain spin from one of the guests this Saturday.
  4. The Hartfield Brothers with an intro borrowed from The Temps "Cloud Nine" that was released 1 year earlier.
  5. Lee Jennings, One of Chalkys past spins, funky northern at it's best, and great lyrics.
  6. WOW I know that's what I said when I first heard it.
  7. Butch's Philadelphians cover up if I'm not mistaken.
  8. Lets listen to this wonderful side as well.
  9. I know Mick Howard loves a nice twofer and this fits the bill perfectly. In the past I've sold records without playing the flipside, bearing that in mind I flipped the brilliant "Let my baby go" by The Embraceables and was nicely surprised this midtempo dancer on the other side. Okay not to every body's taste but it does get going after the dreamy Sidras theme type intro. I can't remember hearing it out anywhere but I could be wrong.
  10. Simon might give this a spin if I ask him nicely.
  11. Bloomin heck Baz, that's some list, I see the King George masterpiece is on there.
  12. As well as all these rare un's from the two guests, you can expect to hear brilliant cheaper stuff as well, like this Solomon Burke 7" Si Two Sheds played it last time and it went down well, I complimented him on his choice of version of this tune, so he gave me one of his spares. Apparently he's been buying every different coloured label variant of this record hoping for a Yellow one, but I don't think they released one in that colour, but don't tell him.😄
  13. I remember quite a few years ago I did the rare room at Keele and I thought I'd done okay until Cliff Steele and then Mick H came on.☹️ Thankfully I was sitting with Mick Howard when they came on and the conversation was something like what's this Mick, Charlene & the Soul Serenaders he told me Mick what's this, The Limitations "I'm lonely I'm troubled" was his reply. Mick what's this, The Superbs "Wind in my sails" 😜I think was a Butch play from a few years earlier. I'm not sure if Mick H is still playing it but here it is.
  14. I'm pretty sure it was👍
  15. Mick I see Baz has advertised this next Culcheth right across the board 60's & 70's in the main room and this definitely fits the bill. Soul Sam has played this one in the Culcheth Modern Room to a packed dancefloor. It's always a treat to hear this played out loud.
